With your budget. Nope cant get any. Unless your "parts" is ram, hdd and OD. Best is to get desktop for that.
*
So sorry. Then just ignore customizing parts. sweat.gif

For my requirement, what other brand/model I could get besides XPS 15 as suggested by other member?

MSI
MSI GE62 2QE-006MY Apache – 15.6” FHD IPS / i7-4720HQ / 8GB / 1TB (SATA) 7200rpm / GTX965M 2GB / W8.1 : RM5099

Lenovo
Lenovo Y50-70 5943-8437 – 15.6” FHD / I7-4710HQ / 8GB / 1TB SSHD 8GB / GTX860M 4GB / W8.1 / RM3790

Sorry for disturbing ya, but thanks for the recommendation, very nice!

illegear z5 too eye catching, I dont want people to target my lappy.
I think 17.3" screen too long for my bag.
Will avoid Asus and Acer then. I use lappy for long period, and run lots of program, heavy user, definitely will be very very hot.

By comparing illegear Q5 with MSI with Lenovo with Dell XPS15 which is best?

If you're a heavy user. I suggest you get the one with good after sale service because of the way you use it and with good after sale service. Hopefully the problem will be resolved quicker and basically giving you a peace of mind. Do note the terms and condition of the warranty.

All the laptops cooling system will be able to handle the temp. Cant say much about XPS15 though since i dont know the specs.

In the end, choose the one you prefer. Happy Hunting.  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif or wait for other sifu for their inputs.  nod.gif

Budget in during June, still have time to hunt. Anyway, thanks alot for the suggestion thumbup.gif

Associate too much with gaming. I just need to get my job done, I don't game that much these days.Build material bad, plastic feeling? Not so familiar with this brand, where does this brand come from? Malaysia? Taiwan? Not sure how this is, but screen is definitely overkill for me. laugh.gif

ya, from mid end to high end. Wouldnt really want a high end straight.

Could get a mid end then upgrade it. If that way is better.

So the choices left are MSI GE60, MSI GE62, Illegear Q5.
Will look about it.

The lenovo T440P and dell latitude is only 14". Preferably 15" and above, below 17", considering my laptop bag size is small.

Dell XPS15 is good, but it over budget already, 5K and below only. sad.gif
It offer i5 too, should I stick with i7 since I always complain computers are slow? unsure.gif

would even not consider this.
gt 750m is too far behind from the gtx 960m offered in the MSI and Illegear.
it would be silly to spend that much for such an inferior spec as the XPS15 is at one of the most awkward spot (not as mobile as XPS13 and not as powerful as other performance laptops despite its weight/size)
*
So, no Dell anymore?

I dont really game these days, is it ok if I use gaming laptop to get my job done?
Would it be overkill?

Choices left are now MSI and Illegear only? hmm.gif
QUOTE(AthrunIJ @ Apr 17 2015, 12:22 AM)
All right. Seems you have already have some in your mind. Computer slow because of HDD or RAM.

If you have the budget to do so. Swap the HDD to SSD, you'll never go back to HDD (This i can promise  tongue.gif ). RAM (for me at least) minimum 8Gb well with the way your using your laptop might as well go for the maximum allowed by the laptop.

For me i would consider MSI GE62 and Illegear. As the older model GE60 doesn't really have a good cooling system.

Now again happy hunting my friend.  thumbup.gif
*
Hmm, if you say computer slow mostly because of HDD or RAM,

I worry SSD lifetime only, it might died after some time right? Like my pendrive.
RAM definitely need at least 8GB already.

What about CPU? i7/i5? quad core/dual core? 2.4 above? unsure.gif

Seems like gaming type laptop is only in this range.

I still dont want to go 100% full SSD. (Solution below -Please give feedback)
I killed 2 pendrive of mine. Data corrupt suddenly, its just tragic.

So confirmed my requirements:
Below 5K
Low Profile (Not eye catching)
15" to 17" Full HD (Preferably IPS)
i7-4720HQ (At least 2.4GHz, quad core)
8GB DDR3L RAM at least (Future upgradable to 16GB Dual Channel DDR3)
Storage? 500GB enough. HDD/SSD? No, Solid State Hybrid Drive <-Solution
Graphic card? Make sure no lags in movie and some small games will do.
Optical disc drive is a must!
Cooling and support service is very important.

The answer I got: Illegear Q5... so far.
Any more laptop to add in for comparison?

Feel free to correct any mistakes. smile.gif

can customised and change 500gb to 1Tera if u want.
SSHD.. its hybrid hard disk. not fully ssd.. and not fully hdd too.
*
1Tera, thats alot of space for me. Normally even I just watch movie then delete it.
1Tera feels really unnecessary. sweat.gif
QUOTE(evofantasy @ Apr 18 2015, 01:06 AM)
with ur budget, get a q5 with a 120gb SSD for ur windows and main programs.
*
I dont fully trust SSD yet.

Since you recommend SSD, can tell me more about M.2 SSD?
QUOTE(miong93 @ Apr 18 2015, 09:38 AM)
I recommend Z5 since it has better cooling. But if you really need low profile then no choice.
I don't recommend SSHD cause it is a slow 5400rpm HDD with 8gb cache. Besides loading your OS, other stuff will have a slow read/write speed. You will notice the different very soon. Besides if you really manage to get a SSD in the future, the SSHD will just be a pathetic 5400rpm HDD. I recommend getting 7200rpm HDD in case in the future you add in SSD.
I think getting a SSD now is okay. SSD is NOT like pendrive which have more wear and tear issue. SSD can survive for quite long so there is no need to worry about it. If there is anything, you can always claim for warranty.
1TB HDD + 128GB SSD is the sweet spot for you.
*
Z5 cooling got difference with Q5? Looks same.
"Dual-heatpipe, Dual-vent and Dual-fan Cooling"

Wah, you recommend 1TB also, I not sure why people need so much of space. hmm.gif
Movies? I dont collect movies. biggrin.gif

Since you recommend SSD, can tell me more about M.2 SSD?
QUOTE(AthrunIJ @ Apr 18 2015, 10:59 AM)
Looks fine to me. You can use the remaining budget to get extra warranty or increase your RAM capacity.  nod.gif

If you choose Q5. It fits well enough.

EDIT : It seems you still doubt SSD quality compared to Pendrive. Hopefully, you'll change your mind sooner or later.

Yes, still doubt SSD quality.
Do you think 8GB of ram would be enough? Or should upgrade to 16GB?

Can tell me more about M.2 SSD?
