hi guys need help here for a gaming laptop around price range of 4.5k below

1. Preferred Brand : Any, as long as built quality is good + ventilation
2. Budget : 3.5k to 4.5k
3. Usage : Gaming, Photo editing ( Lightroom ,Photoshop )
4. Preferred laptop/screen size 15 Inch

*Would like an extra SSD if possible and a GTX Card

btw as for illegear and cyberforce..
I've selected the custom spec for the illegear z5 and cyberforge s-15
the price diff are as follows : rm4508 vs rm 4592

Illegear z5
+Graphic card of GTX 960 4GB DDR 5
+IC Diamond Thermal compound
-Wifi Intel 7260 dualband

Cyberforge
-Graphic card of GTX 960 2GB DDR 5
+GC Extreme thermal compound
+128GB Samsung M2 SSD
+Killer WIFI

btw whats the diff between intel 7260 dualband and realtek 8723BE? thats the option for the wifi network card of the z5

Others are almost the same, which should i go for?
considering the built quality, does cyberforge up to par with z5's like everyone mentioned?
Thanks in advance smile.gif

Both clevo OEM.. I would go for illegear coz its onsite service in Klang valley...

For Photoshop I suggest u take higher resolution display.. like qhd or uhd

Dell Inspiron 7548 uhd touch i7 around RM3500.. but Radeon card... xps 15 qhd+ around RM4700..
*
Hmm whats xps? The z5 one not qhd? If comparing z5 to Asus rog 551Jw 017h http://gamershideout.com.my/index.php?rout...gory&path=60_66

Which one will be better ah?

Dell Xps 15... I check illegear website.. so far dint see the qhd option... Fhd 1920x 1080
Qhd+ 3200x1800...
Uhd is 4k screen...

If u not playing demanding game. U dun need gtx series...

Asus warranty sux.. full stop...
*
hmm... i play starcraft, diablo, battlefield that kind of games..
as for screen, i think don't need QHD also can since I'm nt a pro-photog yet.

But that dell xps 15 seems over price thou..

like that i think i left with illegear already...

btw the illegear, if i get the 1TB Toshiba SSHD , do i need a 128GB SSD for programs that i frequently use?

and i've a SSD curently in my laptop's CD ROM slot with it's jacket, can i use it on the Illegear? ( not sure about illegear's built )

most basic price without operating system is rm4.2 k... yes.. xps is over your budget... but.. you can customised your notebook. adding msata and raid technology... significantly will improve a bit your hdd.  illegear build is much better build quality... and good heat management too... FHD shud be sufficient enuf... for photoshop and fps game...

gosh... just having lunch for day 1 defcon doh.gif
*
you're @ Defcon?

hmm i think i'll go with illegear bah, illegear will be better than Asus ROG rite, correct me if i'm wrong..

I need help with the following regarding illegear parts :
1) WiFi : Which is better? Intel Dual band AC7620 or Reatletk 8723BE?

2) 500GB Seagate SSD or Free upgrade to Toshiba 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive?

if i choose Toshiba 1TB SSHD, can i use my current 128GB SSD? not sure isit mSata or not, but its inside my Asus N56VZ's DVD rom drive with a jacket.

3) Can I use my Windows 7 license from my old laptop n56vz?

its IT conference....

yes... illegear is better than asus..
1- that intel dual band is better
2-ssd might be expensive.. but little storage... 1tb is hybrid hdd + cheaper a bit than ssd + extra storage...
mSata is another  technology that boost up the storage.yes, u can use ur ssd...
3-if not mistaken... yes it can. because its a genuine lisence... but make sure its the same OS (home premium, pro, ultimate)

i call it promotion  laugh.gif  laugh.gif
Killer WIFI hv lots of good benifits
-usually use for high-performance networking adapters combine intelligence, control and superior wireless networking speed for online games, HD video, and high quality audio.
-support dual bands (2.4 GHz and 5GHz)
-improve latency and jitter offering significant benefits over competing wireless adapters
-deliver higher data throughput rates over longer distances.
-offers Bluetooth connectivity to offer the most flexible solution for high-performance networking.

dual band just a normal card...  cant fight killer wifi..

if da ssd/hdd in old computer still good.. can take it... even ram also.. if its ddr3. yes.. still can use..
*
thanks for the input sifu biggrin.gif
weird that they dont have the killer wifi option for the z5, ltr i go ask them and see..

btw as for the graphic card, is it worth to invest the extra rm799 for the upgrade from GTX960 4GB DDR5 to GTX970 3GB DDR5

it seems there's a significant difference base on the bench mark test

I would recommend the GTX 970M now and upgrade the RAM and SSD on your own volition later. As pointed out by Illegear's rep, the GPU is soldered on and cannot be changed. This means that getting the better GPU would result in a better future proof rig as there is no telling if you're gonna get hooked on a more demanding game... Or if you end up hooking your laptop to a 4k monitor  tongue.gif

Also, its usually cheaper to buy an equivalent RAM and/or SSD upgrade from an IT shop and install it yourself than taking it as an upgrade direct from the notebook manufacturer, which means that you would technically save yourself a few bucks in the long run.

thanks for the input sifus, i've decided to go with the 970 already with a trial windows 7, like that i save the extra rm300+, and able to wait for windows 10 to stabilise first, then i'll buy it's license.

btw if i use windows 8, the upgrade to windows 10 is permanent? or i've to pay later on?

If you're using an original version of Windows 8.1 Core or Pro versions AND upgrade within a year, then yes.
*
windows 10 cost $119 estimated.

means if i get windows 8.1 (rm309) , then upgrade later on, more worth lo? @_@

or stick to window 7 trials,

upgrade to 10 in the future once it's stable.

which would u advise?

If it were me, I'd get Windows 8.1 and upgrade sometime around Q2 of next year, before the upgrade option expires. Microsoft should have ironed out most of the bugs by then. Even if they haven't and you decide to stick to Windows 8.1, it wont be too much of a loss since it's a good OS by itself
*
haha okay smile.gif will order it later ! biggrin.gif

btw the OS of laptops are binded permanently to it already rite, my old laptop's windows 7 license key cant transfer to this new d rite. jz to clarify

and for ssd vs hdd, the only difference will be speed of launching the program right, as for performance it depends on the processor and gpu?

and if I install OS on SSHD, and games on ssd (due to low space, many games). it won't work d rite?

Nope, unless its OEM and came pre-installed originally as that would mean it's bound to your notebook's motherboard. Even so, there are grey-ish (legally speaking) ways around that such as calling Microsoft directly and asking them to reactivate the key. With a valid excuse, they'll reactivate the key and you'll be able to use it on a different notebook.

However, if you buy/bought a separate version of Windows then you can reuse that key however many times you want on different machines. Of course only one machine will be able to activate the key at a time, but you will be able to transfer the OS installation to your next notebook should need to do so.
Generally yes. SSDs tend to make your system feel extremely responsive and boost loading times greatly when compared to old school HDDs. This is mainly due to their exceptional random read/write performance that is unparalleled by mechanical parts.

So, keeping games on a HDD is perfectly acceptable as you wont see much of a gain in performance if you installed it on your SSD. At best you'll load games quicker, but not enough to warrant using up your SSD's precious space. Keep other stuff, such as your web browser and commonly used programs on the SSD instead and you can expect your notebook to be usable under 15 seconds (or less) from a cold boot.

Hope that helped
*
thanks for the reply smile.gif I think I've come to my finals decision, either getting the windows 7 trials along with an extra 128gb ssd,

or

Windows 8.1 with no extra ssd

both cost about rm300

trials version won't give problems other than the prompt license key notification rite

I'm not too sure, but I think you'll run into problems accessing full functionality. That being said, you can extend the trial period with a simple command line prompt a few times. All in all, it's just a stopgap solution and you'll be wanting a legit copy of Windows sooner or later
*
Hmm.. If i use Windows 7 trial, can I upgrade to Windows 10 straight through online?(By paying for Windows 10 license)

Cuz the rm400 I decided to invest in the ssd first, then ltr i saved enough d I will buy the OS..
If I do this another way round, it would be troublesome to transfer the OS into the ssd in the future.
Or will there be lots of hassle moving to Windows 10 from Windows 7 trial?(Eg: reformatting )

Hence I'm considering the trial version.

Sry I ask so much haha..kinda new to computer stuff sweat.gif

I'm not too sure about this. Theoretically, you could pay for a Windows 7 key then perform the free upgrade to Windows 10 before the promotion window (no pun intended) closes. That would probably be a cheaper method than buying a Windows 10 key direct. However, due diligence is required to ensure that method would actually work.

I don't want to be responsible for you wasting money unnecessarily...  tongue.gif
This I can't answer as I don't have actual experience with Windows 10
*
hmm but now there's no more basic windows 7 key rite? left only the professional ones , which cost rm500++
base on what illegear salesman told me

Yeah, that's a fair point. I suppose getting keys will be increasingly hard since Windows 7 is getting pretty close to its EOL period. So, cheap Windows 8.1 key then? I think there are some for sale in the Garage Sales section of the forums. Not sure if they're OEM copies though.

Trials for Windows 8 and 7 is the same right for now? Or the trial extension up to 120days is available to Windows 7 only?
