I'll post a new one since my last post had wrong info.
1. Preferred brand - any except acer
2. Budget - RM4k-5k
3. usage: mainly gaming (have to be able to play Batman Arkham Knight or newer games at least in low-medium graphic quality with smooth framerate)
4. Preferred laptop: gtx970 if available, also has seperate headset jack and microphone jack (not the typical combo jack which can only plug in the headset jack) because my headset is not USB type, otherwise my mic need use laptop's
5. Screen size : at least 15"
*
Bro, in this case you should get a MSI notebook and get Batman Arkham Knight for FREE!

http://msimalaysia.blogspot.com/2015/06/bu...books-with.html

Lols!

Anyways, with your budget you can consider the MSI GE62 2QF @RM5,999

It's above your budget but come with nice feature

GE62 2QF Apache Pro
15.6" UHD, (3840*2160) 4K IPS
Intel i7-4720HQ
Nvidia GTX 970M, 3GB GDDR5
8GB DDR3 RAM & 1TB (SATA) 7200rpm

and theres separate jack for headset and microphone. Nahimic FTW! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

No its not replacement of zenbook, but it just another variant of transformer book series. Zenbook has better build quality, and possibly longer battery life. AFAIK asus T300 chi also don't have full size USB port (correct me if I'm wrong)
*
i see zenbook review for the quality and builts... and the t300 chi for the processor performance...

and i found out the core m 1.2 is actually similar to core i7-4500U, but core m 1.2 limited by its TDP

Planning to get a laptop for my sister for uni use.
1. Preferred Brand: none, but hopefully not Acer, had bad experience on its built quality?
(unless anyone can convince me they wont die within a year or 2)

2. Budget 1.5k +- (see note)

3. Usage (general light usage n work processing, movies)

4. Preferred laptop/screen size 14" - i think its the best ratio between portability and screen size...

AND with USB 3.0

Note:
I have an issue, tho. I prefer SSD over hdd, esp 5400rpm which is bloody slow. But I cannot find and laptop below 3k with good SSD. ( not including SSHD)

I am considering a cheap core i3 with 2gb ram lappy, and buy a 256gb ssd and slot it in, and add in myself another 2-4gb of ram if needed (i think 4gb is bare minimum for windows 8/10 )

1. Anyone knows any 2k+- lappy with SSD?
2. If not, would swapping out the HDD void the warranty of the laptop?
I think adding a ram shouldn't b a problem but swapping the HDD would be an issue.

Any suggestions?

sshd is much better than hdd. but if there is ssd cache, also helping. but for 3D rendering. quad core processor will its play role+strong support by gpu.. then u can fully utilised 3D rendering at max level
