Hi All,

Just looking for some guidance to setup a network for a small hotel. What is the recommended switch and AP for a budget hotel that is 5 storey building and there is 10 rooms in each floor with a concrete wall. Would be good if it is cheap and efficient.

10 rooms per floor x 5 = 50 rooms. Thats not really a small hotel by any means. Its better to buy commercial level Wi-Fi equipment. Something like this.

For your internet service provider, you might want to look at the highest speed possible on your budget.

I think you need approach professional (or contractor) to do this for you as they might need to pull LAN cables between the floors (or between the rooms) and etc ...

sweat.gif I hate concrete walls(for wifi). The doors are fire doors or not? If yes you might need 1 access point every 3 doors/6 rooms in the corridor (I'm assuming the rooms are facing each other).

And make sure adjacent floors AP layout is different (e.g. no AP in the same position on the floor above or below).

But seriously you should consider getting in a consultant to do a wireless site survey.

Thank you for the advise everyone. I think one of my major concern is the concrete wall and also the AP. Keeping that in mind, any good AP you guys would recommend for this sort of scenario?

I stayed at a couple of budget hotel with budget wifi equipment before, i can say it is sucks. Go with commercial wifi hardware or spend a bit more money by placing a wifi router in every few room
