I'm contemplating between buying a Dell u3014 monitor now for programming work. What I like about this monitor:
- monitor's color accuracy
- IPS view angle
- height adjusttable
- 2560 x 1600!!! can read more lines
- my current video card can only support max of 2560 x 1600, just nice!

it costs ~RM4100, but it looks like a 2-year monitor by now.

Should I be buying the monitor now or wait for new model to come out? anybody knows when/what is the new replacement model coming out?

The RM8k iMac 5k is awesome, but RM4k or less is around the budget I have.

Do you really need PremierColor for programming work?

What video card are you currently running?

Why not think about dual monitor setup if your video card can support? Perhaps 2 x Dell U2415?

If you insist on PremierColor, perhaps the Dell U2713H at RM 2099?

If you want to get huge real estate screen, get a single Dell U3415W wide curve screen for RM 3499 SRP or a single Dell P2715Q 4k monitor for RM 2309 SRP.

Not just for programming work but also better syntax colors, movie watching, and photo editing.

I have a dell 1200x1600 as secondary display. My video card can support up to 2 2560x1600. So another monitor with similar height up to 1600 pixels would help with PLP setup. In this case, portrait-landscape setup.

Where can I get u3415 for this price?

In all honesty I'd just wait for the 31.5 inch 4k model's price to drop with a new model release and go for that.

I own 3 of these Dell 30xx and they're fine workhorses. Just that technology is catching up.

Cheap? laugh.gif The price is / was common knowledge as it was mentioned in the news of their launching in Malaysia which was posted on local hardware portals including LYN.

I suppose the higher cost of the smaller/older is due to the cost of the panel itself.... being an AH-IPS.... though the newer panel's technology may have superseeded the older one...
