I've reset my motherboard bios and my cpu showing 3.2Ghz but in CPU-Z it's 1.4Ghz. All my games are lagging because of this and I'm getting way low fps. What is the solution for this? How can I get the default or overclock it?
Thanks in advance.

Mobo : MSI 970 Gaming
RAM : 16GB 1866Mhz
CPU : AMD FX8320E
GPU : GTX 960
PSU : 650+80 moduler

thats the speed when your cpu is idling, to save power. Doesnt it go up when you run the occt cpu benchmark? If it doesnt ,try check your Windows power settings, make sure it allows your cpu to run at 100% max.

Windows power settings in High Performance and it's at 100% max. I have no clue how to chat that multiplier from 7 to higher number. Everytime I try to change , OC keep fail and even if I succeed it's still 1400Mhz.

CS:GO. With Low setting, my fps is around 80-90 and it's lagging.

That's the setting in the BIOS. There's a way to get it to be at constant max speed.

Reset your BIOS also can't get stock speed?

try disable cool & quite, turbo core (perhaps c1e if available) then manually set cpu multiplier to default (x16, u can even try x20 as it's d multi when under turbo/boost state). smile.gif

Hey bro, same issue with my 970 too. Just disable the CPU Smart Protection under the OC tab in the BIOS and you're good to go.

As per my case, my CPU temp went higher than usual and I have to bump the CPU fan speed to compensate. Also, if you happened to use Corsair H60 like me, plug the pump to case_fan header instead of cpu_fan header

I hate my MSI 970 Gaming.

Seem like a Common problem in FX8320e.
I stress test my CPU, and it turned down to 1.4Ghz too.
I have do an experiment, Whenever my CPU temp hits 70c or above, within 3sec, the clock speed dropped to 1.4Ghz. (Even later the CPU temperature goes down due to auto fan speed max, it never goes up to 3.2ghz anymore.)

I had tried boots the fan to 100% and some aircond to maintain it below 7, when the temperature didnt hit 70c, it can last 3.2ghz as long. but the problem is the fan is super noisy. I used IDcooling forst flow 120L, seem like didn't help much, fan are noisy above 60% capacity. I need to turn on 100% to tahan my FX8320e temp not exceed 70c.

OC it? I cannot imagine how as long as I cant handle the heat....

rule of thumb when oc AMD chips is always to DISABLE what ever power saving features (C&Q, C1e etc...), as well as turbo. what's d vcore setup? manual or offset? personally I prefer manual (at least when I'm in d midst to determine d highest 24/7 clock), once sweet spot of cpu, ram & NB frequency are found then only try C&Q enabled & offset for vcore.

as for throttling issue, it shouldn't be that bad (but to be fair I never have d luxury to play with any e chip). I think 240mm aio is d least u can go if ur runnin an FX8, 120mm aio aint gonna be enuf to tame d heat, unless ur runnin stock clock plus some serious undervolt. board, or rather bios do play some parts too, but d heat will always be there. u can try undervolt ya chip thou, it's something which I find all FX chip are pretty good at (actually same applies to intel, or at least those that I've tried). it's pathetic if ur not even able to run stock clock during load, defeat purpose of buying d chip. U can try disable 4 core & see how it goes with d temp/throttling too. all d best... wink.gif

At what Vcore? Have you tried to re-seat the heatsink? 70C sounds too high for me at that speed.

My FX-8350 works fine with Corsair H55i, stock clock stock voltage.

I've also run units like CM Nepton 120XL on FX-9590 stock clock stock voltage (which is by default, way higher than FX 8 series on OC) with good temperature.

my bad sir, mebe i over exaggerated a lil, but most of d time i'm not bothered to run stock volt & stock clock at d same time. either under volt + slight oc or stock clock with lowest volt needed. 120 aio is decent for d latter case, but if oc is involved, 240 aio would be more ideal. with custom wc temp is never a problem, especially for vishera... tongue.gif

You knew I tested the Wraith right? I'm surprised that the Wraith cooler can cool the FX-9590! Well, just barely.

I want to under-volt my FX-8350 too but my ASUS Crosshair Formula 790FX board not so clever, no such option.

not aware of that sir, but glad that ur sharing d results... looks like not much diff, apart from d noise generated... but should but good for quaddy with some lite oc... definitely good enuf for dually... wub.gif

ehh Wraith cooler on FX-9590 leh that one.

FX-9590 is rated my AMD to only run on Water cooling system but the Wraith can handle it! Stock cooler will not work.
