I've been hearing people say that this is the lowest quality proc of all the brands out there due to the gps, and os updating things... Is it real? I have paid Rm100 for the upfront deposit for Meizu M1 Note to Digi and if it's real I might consider buying another qualcomm phone.

The new Mediatek processor (64 bit) is highly capable than the previous generations of Mediatek.

It is very fast and snappy even comparable speed with the famous Qualcomm Snapdragon in term of raw processing power, but GPU used in Mediatek SoC is never come close to Qualcomm's Adreno Graphics.

And yes, Mediatek always having trouble with little things where Qualcomm at best.

Mediatek struggle in searching and locking GPS that makes navigation a little bit slower and harder.

Users are reporting problems with Waze navigation app. Unsable. Meizu and Mediatek are working on it.

As of updates, I'm not sure about now. But back than with previous mediatek SoC doesnt seem to have great after sale updates and loyality.

But no doubt, Mediatek is getting better than ever.
The SoC in M1 Note is already using the latest and up to date tech.

Old mediatek processor such as MT6589 suffers from GPS locking speed, but newer chipset like MT6595 locking speed has improve a lot, almost instant lock when opening gps apps

Usually old Mediatek GPS lock will need to access network (wifi or data) to acquire GPS satellite data and it only will start to lock, from there already took a long time, if no data the lock will take forever.
Last time i try a new mediatek device with no sim card and no data connection, open GPS test app, almost instantly get a lock already

tried with this?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...s.gpstest&hl=en

only gps turned on? or with the assist of data? If only with gps hardware and without data, then indeed it's a big upgrade from previous Mediatek SoC.

edit, baru read ur reply. Nice. Then I can consider Lenovo P70 dy. brows.gif

Yes bro, that the app i use to test.
Yup, only GPS turn on, no data assist, but that time i just finish download the GPS app at a cafe, but i cannot confirm google got store any location or satellite setting on the device or not after signing into google account. After that off wifi, go in to car turn on GPS then open the GPS app to test, straight away got GPS lock.
The device i tested is Meizu MX4.

Im using M1 Note right now.
Quite fast phone.Mediatek processor nowdays not like the old one.
Antutu got 40k+....no issue for GPS...lock quite fast, but yes, still problem with Waze.
Waze got this bug not because of Mediatek processor, but the GPU Mali. You can check the phone with GPU Mali, have this kind of problem.

Yeah Waze seems to use some proprietary graphic libraries which gives problem with certain model of phones.

Waze often hangs on my phone. Google map and other GPS program no issue.
