It’s an insurance plan. It falls under the category of deferred annuity hence you can get extra tax relief under ‘Deferred Annuity and PRS’ category until YA2021 IF you do get this plan.
No, it’s not meant for ‘profit’. It’s an insurance plan with non-guaranteed investment returns. There’s an illustration if you have the brochure or you can just download the brochure online. Beneficial is a too-broad of a question. If you ask if there’s better option that can provide something similar. My answer is definitely yes. QUOTE(analyzer81 @ Mar 26 2015, 05:17 PM) no alternative to recommend. when i say better options, i shouldn't have said 'similar'. if one is looking for investment return, retirement planning, tax planning, please look into other investment vehicle. if you really want the tax relief... remember that the tax relief category is shared with PRS. some may argue that at least deferred annuity has guaranteed benefits and PRS can't provide any... well yes... but... it's insurance vs unit trust... even the 3 aunties that i know who works in insurance companies don't buy deferred annuity and opt for PRS instead... |
