I think working in factory is better

How good is working in factory?

Stable income and yearly increment I think most of the people you see on the street are working in one of the factory in Bayan Lepas

Are you referring to those managers or engineers? Or those technicians and operators?

I'm referring to those engineers, managers and technicians. Why ?

If there's no retrechment due to downsizing or restructuring ... I'm sure what you said is valid.

Retrenchment and downsizing is uncertain due to world ecomony! Nobody expect Intel as the most stable company in Penang will retrench so many people this year!

Since when has Intel ever been the most stable company?
You want stability then it's Agilent you're looking for.

Intel was very stable before 2006. Starting 2006, due to the competition in CPU market, Intel started to retrenche their staffs. My fiend in IT got retrenched last week

By the way, who said Agilent is stable ?

The troubles in Intel began around 2004 - actually way before that. Insiders could already see trouble in the horizon - just that we tried to act cool about it.

Imagine this: 20k ppl hired worldwide in 2004-2006. Around 100 ppl coming in every 2 weeks in Malaysia. No company in the world can sustain that workforce.

I mentioned Agilent as being 'stable' as in they are practically a monopoly in the test equipment field. It would take a catastrophic screw-up for them to have to layoff ppl - with Avago taking on the non-performing units.

Agilent is no longer focusing on test equipment industry. They have refocus the business orientation to mesurement equipment industry.

Yes, Intel hired a lot of people between 2004-2006. My friends told me they met with many people during freshie orientation (close to 100 as you mentioned) and it continue for the entire year. So, suddenly Intel need to pay higher cost for their headcount and now in crisis liao. That's why one of friend in IT group told me last week, the entire group was retrenched

Yes, i heard that. I guess you're from Agilent, right ?

Each of this have thier own future. Choose the one you're more confortable with is more important.

I believe there is alot of place to work which is better than working in a factory, unless you're from engineering background or just wanna enjoy the benefit.
