Subway accept credit card (Visa & MC) for payment ??? I tot cash only ?

Last time, I used Amex in Giant. Now, they changed the machine to Hong Leong, I could not use Amex. Anyone has similar issues?

Last Saturday went to Watsons Tesco Bukit Puchong, the cashier refused my amex
She said now they are using new terminal (public bank)
I also noticed there's no amex logo on the label near the counter panel display (not sure before this the logo was there or not)

Tried to pay with the self-checkout machine but the terminal rejected Amex paywave. Didn't try PIN.

Just to ask anyone else that might have faced this issue.

Previously I had no issues paying with AMEX at any Shell station, but one of them if I tap or insert card it will show Declined.

On the receipt printed from pump terminal it shows error "Declined 109 or 199" (receipt faded a bit).
Asked the counter and she said no issues with Amex, even said there was a customer sometime before me that paid and had no issues. Asked Maybank and they said no issue with my card, as it works at any other Shell station 

I used the cashier counter, not self-checkout.
Can't remember the terminal type, it was black colour & looks old
