do u use umobile ? if yes, try to get the ucard, you'll get immediate 10% off from the bill + collecting ucard points. at least got something, if amex not accepted 

i was tempted to keep passing the ucard around to queing starbucks customers in front of me. they get 10% discount, i get the points  too bad, i'm too shy

No choice. Since no more 5% Weekends for all spending (which they introduced back) I think their AMEX Card transaction for users becoming lesser. After this, the hype came back again!

How do u know the terminal accept all including AMEX? Any indicator?

U mean we won't know and can't differentiate by looking at the terminal itself, unless u are regular customer?

Isn't it awkward to ask that If retail shop ask that before purchase should be not so awkward but restaurant really awkward to ask before dine in.
Many of the merchants still intact the AMEX acceptance sticker at their glass door but actually they no longer accept
