This still does not absolve Maybank for the lack of tact by not informing its card base on this change, and there's every right in blaming Maybank for its poor representation of the Amex brand in Malaysia in general.

Just look at the number of big establishments that has shunned the card over the years and even online merchants Zara, Uniqlo is not accepting the card - Yes its probably them not accepting it, but it does not help if there are high entry barriers in accepting the card. Go and do your research by asking these retailers.
*
It is not Maybank's responsibility to keep track of which merchants accept AMEX, unless that merchant is using Maybank POS.

Do you expect Dutch Lady to tell you if Mydin decided to stop stocking its products?

If you are on direct debit with your bank using the same card all these years, all of a sudden your phone or electricity line gets cut off as a result of your bank or service provider stops accepting it without informing you, what do you think?
*
The direct debit is a service provided by your telco (for example). Their responsibility to inform you if it doesn't go through (and they do, by SMS IIRC, way before your line gets cut off).

Be a smart consumer, understand which services are being provided by which provider. The bank provides you the credit facilities and card, but the usage of the card is provided by the merchant. Any change to eligibility of card is an issue with the merchant, unless banks ban certain types of transactions (e.g. overseas etc.). That's the only case where the banks need to inform you.

Relax. I'm not a newbie here. If I'm asking meaning I didn't know or maybe it's just a mix up or confusion with the "utilities" thing. Its not silly.

Lecture part? Just fedup with this kind of answer. If don't want to give straight answer, just don't reply. Simple.

Newbie more forgivable as they just don't know better. Veteran should have higher standard. Especially for not telling off those who gave you a clear answer. Be better.

I'm pretty sure cc bank charge is not the reason their price not competitive
*
Not the ONLY reason.

Put another way, CC bank charge is (one of the) the reason why their competitors don't accept AMEX.
