While your 1st statement is true, the 2nd is arguable since people did manage to produce this:

100% fully handpainted.

You can, but it'll take a lot of effort and money like nazrul said. It really depends on the person's preference, skill and how many hours he is willing to spend on it. I've tried brush painting since last year till now, I am barely covering up the stroke lines LOL but it's a sense of pride when I do.

I think you learn different things while you do full brush paint and airbrush painting. But efficiency (whether materials or time) wise, I think airbrush wins any day.

@nazrul, YES, I would do that some day! It's a waste of time and money like you said but then again, I would be proud of my masterpiece when I do xD.

Maybe there's a misundersanding here. I'm not arguing the efficiency of paint brush vs air brush. We all can agree on that, air brush wins on all account.
But ONLY for detailing small parts? THAT is arguable.
*
My bad, I've misunderstood your post. Well, again it's a matter of preference.

It's reasonable to assume that paint brush is only for small part because it's almost impossible to air brush small parts detailing. For big parts, due to the efficiency, it's logical that people will choose airbrushing. Hence, paint brush is only used for detailing small parts.

I disregard the efficiency though, pride of work xP.

anyone using Gundam Marker GM01 Fine? they seems to dry up the moment you write it and impossible to rub off, only way is to scratch them off with hobby knife.

i read you're suppose to be able to use rubber eraser to wipe them off. but i feel they are ever harder to remove compare to normal paint.

is this normal or is my marker old stock?
*
Not sure whether your pen old stock or not, but my pen works fine, easily erasable in the first 30secs? I think. Just use thumb only. Usually mistakes, I use cotton buds with thinner, it gets the job done.

It definitely is not normal.

dude same here just start last year but with speeding pace. up until now already diy paint booth, diy paint oven, and lots of builders tools

currently i seriously considering buying high end nippers and file to speed up the build pace just to make up what i have lost in the years...

also did i mentioned i'm a 32yo 2kids dad? even more sux here with limited time...

what can i say? when you have the time, you dont have the dime...

when you have the dime, theres only so much time...
*
Talking about nippers, I recommend G-temple (Plastic Nippers GT-01). I've not tried godhand or tamiya (I find the prices way too much and overrated) but G-temple is very sharp and fine thus giving it a clean cut. I got mine from Crux at RM50 (old stock). The cheapest I found now is in lowyat around RM60-70.

I've used mine for around half a year (Give or take 30-35-ish HG kits) or so, got some rust though since old stock.

I started near end of last year and let me say this, you won't be able to catch up LOL. Just enjoy the process bah. rclxms.gif

QUOTE(nazrul90 @ Jun 9 2015, 04:26 PM)
official distributor Litt Tak own warehouse so maintaining them not gonna be cheap
also people works there no need to pay salaries?

why you bother with this hobby if too costly? you already aware local hobby shop sell at reasonable price. buy at overseas have high risk to get gunpla damaged or lost plus with shipping its no more or less like same price in local shop
*
I believe heally is talking about overpriced, not expensive. This hobby is expensive, yes. But one shouldn't be overcharged. I believe that's the point.

Heally,
The thing about official distributors is that they are huge. They need to stockpile, there is storage/warehouse cost.

Take gundam.my(not an official distributor) for example, their prices comparatively speaking is more expensive than local hobby shops. But i can understand the reason behind is because they need to store and it's a bigger operation (more employees, stocks going obsolete) comparatively. So i feel i am reasonably charged if i were to buy from them.

If you want cheaper products, then you got to act fast in local hobby shops before it goes out of stock. I believe everything is like this, high risk, high reward, low risk, low reward.

lets ignore the official distributor, everyone in this thread aware the price there is not cheap
but do he even try to buy local as alternative?
in his earlier post, he just aware so many local shop selling at good price then why bother buy oversea which is not much different? unless he aim for rare kit which is hard to find here

its for HK resident only so need HK address to get buy
*
Ah I see, I didn't see so long back of the thread, my bad. No hard feelings. =D

QUOTE(heally82 @ Jun 9 2015, 05:27 PM)
you totally get me there, im the one that always failed to get the local good stuff and go for oversea so lost my confidence locally already...

i do often check local online stores but still too slow compared to buying japan direct for the same price including shipping, thats my own experience.
*
Usually it'll take two weeks (That's the fastest I've seen) for local hobby shops to get models after it has been released. Have to wait lor, no choice. I think of it as give me time to save money XD. If you want it fast, then I suggest you avoid PO-ing with G-Wing and Gundam.my (They take a lot longer than other local hobby shops).

Which website do you go to? I am really curious o.0? I've never found a website that can offer me the same price (direct + shipping) with local pricing? Unless you get in bulks @.@

@jloi

Crux has some ridiculously cheap price for some products, but some products can be more expensive. Just do some research =D.
