Whut u really wanna ruin ur cpu ka? 60-65 deg is quite a lot but not enuff 2 burn ur cpu yet....

Well the paste is needed to transfer the heat from ur cpu to the heatsink, n it eliminates the probability of having air pockets between ur cpu n heatsink due to microscopic grooves on the surface of the heatsink...
