Does this mean we take our own action/justice if faced with fraud ... ?

i think the police means tat we have to be smart buyers... be cautions when paying the money thru online... dont transfer money blindly... otherwise if all buyers were "smart enough" to be con, sure not enough police resources to solve the online fraud cases....

The trouble with such online transaction like the one happening in LYN Trade Zone is that there are no proper documentation during the sales process.

What happen between the buyer and seller is merely an exchange of words,MSN or PM without any solid black and white proof. Therefore dispute or trouble arrising from that transaction will be extremely difficult due to the lack of proper documents to proof that such transaction actually exist.(MSN history,SMS, email etc. are not reliable documents as they're bound to manipulation compared to an official receipt)

So if you wanna trade online safely, make sure you get from a licensed online store, or go through proper 3rd party trading websites like lelong and eBay.

Nothing new though, i'm sure we all know how the Police feel about it even before reading it in the newspaper

Besides, even here at LYN you're supposed to trade at your own risk
Trade-off between price and security, which is more important to you

The article did say the police were investigating it under the Penal Code.

420. Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
