Yo buddies! So anyone here is a fan of japanese rock?

I am not really into this genre actually, but I like how this kind of bass playing style is able to bring the crowd into eargasm haha!

I know its just about looping the same set of chords, keep hitting the same key, but what I want to learn is the part where the bassist hits on the high notes and play around there. Something like this @ 1:05

Do we have a name for this kind of playing style?

I have been searching on youtube but couldnt find any. Help help sad.gif

most japanese songs in general tend have more complicated basslines, which is why ,recently i prefer listening to japanese music rather than western..

lol , most bassists i know would enjoy playing those kind of j rock basslines ,cos they bored already playing the typical western repeating same 4 notes basslines ..

True, tbh i am almost starting to get bored with the looping playing style.

I just wonder how these japanese bassist know when to play the right high key notes like what we can see from the videos.

ya , they are really good in composing basslines, heres a really good japanese female bassist, shes from a j rock band called dollbox,

though, u might wanna ignore her tacky outfit in this video .. lol

heres one of her bands songs ,

these kinds of bands are really good , because literally almost every instrument shines, the drum pattern is technical, the bass has slapping , the vocalist has great vocals and not to mention scream also.

surely any bassist will try to express him/herself with some slick bass lines.

But when it comes to recording, you'll be in a position whether you are overplaying the bass lines. tongue.gif

sometimes you have forgo the ego away and play that bass line that fits the song. even if it means repeating a single note.
