Hi Guys!
My first post here biggrin.gif
Since i stumbled into this thread, I would like to ask.

I have a blackwidow ultimate (i think bought somewhere in 2012 - don't remember)
There was once i was fixing my pc wiring and i think the extension cord flared up a bit (sparks)

After that the additional soundport extension on my keyboard stopped working since. sad.gif Not really a big deal as i have not used it since but was wondering if this could be fixed? hmm.gif

Oh yeah, I'm also looking for another keyboard (more for office and my ps4 use) - wondering if there is a market for mechanical keyboards below RM 200? sweat.gif Just want a cheap, portable set of keyboard to carry to the office.

Sorry for the noob questions.

Thank you!

sorry, no idea about the blackwidow soundport thingie but it sounds like the controller board for the soundport is fried?
tested on other usb port or other pc?

below RM200 will be difficult, unless it's a 2nd hand china brand mkb.
*
Well, it worked perfectly fine before so I did not test it on another pc. hmm.gif
Any person or thread here that specializes in repairing keyboards? biggrin.gif

I came across this keyboard review but I don't think it can be found here but it does look like something I'd consider.

With the current RM vs USD, this is considered cheap for a custom aluminium keyboard.
Plus you also save on shipping if I am not mistaken.

Normally a full aluminium custom would cost you USD 450-550.

I bought my KMAC at USD400 and my LZ at USD500, both not including shipping.

I don't know what magic this place has but after a year+ of not using that extra soundport on my keyboard today it works again. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif lul

I need someone to help translate taobao for me haha. (Veli banana)
Okay! from today onwards will refresh garage sales page everyday biggrin.gif

If not for my budget constraint and curiosity of trying out other keyboards i would likely get another BW =\

i'm veli banana as well and using that to navigate around taobao.

but pls for the love of kibot, don't BW...BMW and BBW is ok...wait what?

Nyooo your reply make me very sad. I know razer gt bad repo when it comes to the quality of most of their products, especially the headset. My kraken pro still works but the pad already peel off and the headband is peeling away after only 1 year of use.

However i used this keyboard for 3 years now and it has yet to give me any problem. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to it haha but i feel it's not that bad as people say.

I'm no keyboard expert with little knowledge of how 'premium' keys should feel and BW is overpriced(like all their products), i'm sure but i dont think it's that bad of a deal. =)

Well, I was using the first gen BWU also before this. Cherry MX blue, loud as it is. Maybe that Cherry switch was worth the money back on the day, but after a year dead LEDs and dim LEDs. I don't feel it is any better then other option out there.

Now that they use their own switch made by Kailh, and the price keep going up. Kind of agree with Jusnits. Just my 2cents.

Okie icon_rolleyes.gif Then I consider myself very fortunate that mine still works for so long haha.

Btw, I'm searching through Taobao ...found some keyboards but probably need someone to translate for me haha.

I suggest you to avoid those. Weird layout. It's like an ANSI layout with and ISO enter and the "/" key.
What's your budget? Pretty sure there's affordable mkb's locally. Don't need to resort into weird brands. imo, just my 2cents.  laugh.gif
*
Oh my budget < rm200 haha. Cheapskate xD.
Was advised to either get second hand (bit hard to find and dunu will get cheated anot) or search from taobao. =(

Plus most second hand i see on the market is selling for rm200+ and most of it is tenkeyless. I need the numpad because i deal with excel alot.

Question then..what would be the normal depreciation rate for a keyboard? ..for a second hand unit..used for X number of years..how much would the price go down?

Plenty of sellers in garage sales.
Here is the link.
https://forum.lowyat.net/Mice&KeyboardsGarageSales

If you can't find it, let us know.  nod.gif

You can put a thread of WTB in garage sales. Sellers will come to find you.
*
Maybe my budget too low =( RM 250 only and most people only selling razer. Haha I want to avoid those if possible.

Btw, where can i find a mechanical usb numpad?

I'm thinking to get a tenkeyless board first and get a mechanical numpad extension later on when got extra budget.

Another question - Now razer changed from blue/brown to green/orange switch. Is this bad? What do you guys think?

I think a numpad only is not so easy to find locally. I think it's better you save up a little longer, and get a full size mkb. Should be more cheaper than getting a separate TKL+numpad.

Razer, now using their own MX clone switch, labelled as Razer brand. They are made by Kailh. I've never use Kailh switch, so I can't say much. Generally the actuation point is "higher"/"shorter". It's said to be better for "gamers".
*
Im actually very curious to try tenkeyless since alot people say it's more ergonomic as they dont have to move their right hand across the number pad side.

So i want to try out tenkeyless and put a numpad on the right side of my mouse hand see how that works out haha.

Ok..i've heard some pretty lousy opinions about kailh so i will buy back cherry at least, even if it's razer.

Well, everyone have different preference taking on stuff. Please take all the comments and recommendation with a grain of salt.

If not mistaken, only those older models use Cherry MX, good luck finding them. Still take note that they are not standard layout.

Well, I think your hope is too high for it. It's like comparing spritzer and evian. Evian definitely is better, but it's still water anyway. Scissors switch are like boiled tap water.

Next step, modded switch please. tongue.gif
