QUOTE(a\/enger @ Aug 6 2015, 01:14 PM)
hi guys, i'm thinking of getting my first mkb so hope to get some suggestions here.

has anyone tried mx clear switches?
why is it so hard to get mx clear keyboards?
most of the sites i've found are sold out of it.
i'm thinking of getting a WASD mx clear when it restocks.

it's either that or i'll get a filco mx brown.
*
Cherry MX clears are generally more rare then the other common switches (blue, red, brown, black). Maybe less are made since it's not that popular until recently(I'll call that hype). brows.gif

But one thing to note, stock clears are pretty heavy, most enthusiast favors the modded clears(aka ergo clears with 62g spring). It's pretty tiring to type on heavy switches except you got pretty strong fingers.

Brown is pretty much clears with lighter springs, you won't go wrong with it. biggrin.gif

WASD, not cheap by any means, especially the shipping. sweat.gif

I think i read somewhere that only the Zero(s) are made in China, other models are made in Taiwan.

Does it matter if it's made in China or Taiwan?

It really depends, if i can save more... i'll go all in for the filco  brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif

I am not saying China stuffs are bad, I like to use TaoBao too.
But, given chances, you want to have Taiwan made or China made when you have a choice. smile.gif
Yea, probably Ducky Zero(s) are made in China, but other Ducky models are from Taiwan.

How much is the price? Not worth btw, because this K70 backlit (non-RGB) has bad reputation because high rates of dying LED.
You can search the previous mkb thread for it. sad.gif

my first mkb is a Ducky Zero which was made in China. it comes with cheaper price than other Ducky keyboards (probably now most of them are made in China) and also slightly less lighting options. compared to the Ducky G2 Pro or Shine series, it feels lighter and less solidly built. but it is still a VERY AFFORDABLE ENTRY MECHANICAL KEYBOARD WITH CHERRY MX SWITCHES.

as quoted by quovadis123 there was a lot of LED issues with K70 (non-RGB). if you are willing to fork out that range of money, why not take a look at Ducky Shine 3/4 series?

from what i read it only occur mostly on the blue LED instead of the red ones. is it true?

Any recommendation of mkb that is almost the same as k70? i love the looks of k70 LED but seems that if it has high failure rate of the LED then i feel sad already now cry.gif

Ducky Shine 4 vs Ducky Shine Zero ... both unit difference just the LED?

---In General---
Ducky Shine 2, 3, 4, 5(by numbers) are higher-end models. Price ranged from RM 4XX-5XX for standard ones.
Ducky ZERO series are lower-end models. Price ranged from RM 2XX-3XX for standard ones.
Ducky G2Pro is like crazily cheap, rival those china lousy brand price, lower than RM 200. tongue.gif laugh.gif

Erm.. G2Pro is high end Ducky. It's non-backlit (just few keys are backlit, not full). It provides PBT keycaps.
And, it's made in Taiwan.

The reason, you get cheap G2Pro, because now got new edition called Ducky Premier.
