Do you have any experience on mx clears? I know it's heavier than brown. But the sound of the particular switch is very intriguing.  drool.gif And most people wanted to buy the clears. Even some modders change their switch to clears. hope Kaiser can give his opinion regarding the switch. Been reading for the whole week on the mx clears.

most of the people said it is the best than mx brown
*
I have a B87 built with cherry MX clears, lubed and using 62g korean springs. Some like the tactility of stock clears, thus they don't lube it, just swap the springs. But to mod Pok3r, need to desolder everything, and mod one by one. So it takes quite a bit of time and if soldering skills is bad, you'll risk burning the PCB. Not sure if anyone want to do the job for you.

They are quite scratchy when new, after some time will be much better. One thing to note when removing keycaps, clear stem is a little tight, must becareful not to break the keycaps.

Hope these info will help you to decide, just my 2 cents.

Nyooo your reply make me very sad. I know razer gt bad repo when it comes to the quality of most of their products, especially the headset. My kraken pro still works but the pad already peel off and the headband is peeling away after only 1 year of use.

However i used this keyboard for 3 years now and it has yet to give me any problem. Maybe it's because I've gotten used to it haha but i feel it's not that bad as people say.

I'm no keyboard expert with little knowledge of how 'premium' keys should feel and BW is overpriced(like all their products), i'm sure but i dont think it's that bad of a deal. =)
*
Well, I was using the first gen BWU also before this. Cherry MX blue, loud as it is. Maybe that Cherry switch was worth the money back on the day, but after a year dead LEDs and dim LEDs. I don't feel it is any better then other option out there.

Now that they use their own switch made by Kailh, and the price keep going up. Kind of agree with Jusnits. Just my 2cents.

Oh my budget < rm200 haha. Cheapskate xD.
Was advised to either get second hand (bit hard to find and dunu will get cheated anot) or search from taobao. =(

Plus most second hand i see on the market is selling for rm200+ and most of it is tenkeyless. I need the numpad because i deal with excel alot.
*
<RM200 for a full layout is kinda hard. I think the only options are finding from Taobao(clone switch) or hunt down for used units. Good luck.

QUOTE(darklordzz @ Jul 1 2015, 08:48 PM)
Question then..what would be the normal depreciation rate for a keyboard? ..for a second hand unit..used for X number of years..how much would the price go down?
*
I think it's pretty hard to value the depreciation rate for a used keyboard. I think it rely solely on how much the owner wants to let go, if they can't sell, surely they will reduce the price to sell it off. Some of them just refer to other seller's price.

In the case of custom keyboard, usually the price don't reduce that much. Some of them even gain value to a certain extent due to rarity like some of the korean customs or vintage keyboards. Rarity and configuration, like some built with switches that are more rare in the market, or specially tuned.

I know this explanation don't really answer what you asked, but hope it helps you. Just my 2 cents sweat.gif

I don't think you'll regret getting a Filco. Pretty solid and highly recommended. thumbup.gif
Well if it's blue switch it's going to get a little noisy anyway.

erm, read alot review, red switch not much making noise and soft more, suite for writter and gaming.
By the way, RM4xx really expensive.  blush.gif
*
Then look at the recommendation list on the first post. Might have other options that suits your budget. If still feels expensive, find on Taobao for those built with MX clone switches.

Price really had a big change after GTS.  rclxub.gif
tactile switches make a noise, i like the red no much sound and soft.
my place small town, didnt have show room for test.  blush.gif

Well, some people actually like typing on linear. I do enjoy typing on linear, tactile and clicky. I can't say which one is the best for me but I just like them all because they are different. Imo red is too light. Not sure where you got the info that red are very good for typing

Tactile is not too noisy, unless you bottom out with every keystroke. Linears can be loud too if you tend to bottom out the keys. Clicky(blue) is quite loud by default.

Just fyi, many people have "typo issue" with linear switch when they first started out, some get used to it over time and some just end up getting tactile or clicky.

Many seems to be really happy to type on browns. Hope this helps.

brown switches key feeling same as normal keyboard, right?  smile.gif
*
Erm, normal keyboard? You mean those usual rubber dome keyboards?

If you're referring to those, then you should think again why you came to this thread and how much do you understand about mechanical keyboards.

*No offense but seriously. If a 4xx ringgit brown switch Filco feels same as the free Acer keyboard that came with the home PC, I'll flip my table, smash that keyboard in pieces and burn it with gasoline. Just kidding tongue.gif

Of course they feels different, that tactile bump, surely feels more distinct than usual rubber dome, and the key travel is more satisfying. Not trying to make it sounds like the most perfect thing ever, but it certainly feels different and better.

Maybe my budget too low =( RM 250 only and most people only selling razer. Haha I want to avoid those if possible.

Btw, where can i find a mechanical usb numpad?

I'm thinking to get a tenkeyless board first and get a mechanical numpad extension later on when got extra budget.

Another question - Now razer changed from blue/brown to green/orange switch. Is this bad? What do you guys think?
*
I think a numpad only is not so easy to find locally. I think it's better you save up a little longer, and get a full size mkb. Should be more cheaper than getting a separate TKL+numpad.

Razer, now using their own MX clone switch, labelled as Razer brand. They are made by Kailh. I've never use Kailh switch, so I can't say much. Generally the actuation point is "higher"/"shorter". It's said to be better for "gamers".

Im actually very curious to try tenkeyless since alot people say it's more ergonomic as they dont have to move their right hand across the number pad side.

So i want to try out tenkeyless and put a numpad on the right side of my mouse hand see how that works out haha.

Ok..i've heard some pretty lousy opinions about kailh so i will buy back cherry at least, even if it's razer.
*
Well, everyone have different preference taking on stuff. Please take all the comments and recommendation with a grain of salt.

If not mistaken, only those older models use Cherry MX, good luck finding them. Still take note that they are not standard layout.

Good advice.

Btw what does Tuhao custom mean in this context?

I read wikipedia description but still dont get it in this context.
*
Tuhao (Chinese: 土豪 refers to the mainland Chinese people who are rich but uncultured.

But generally we mean those that are filthy/f**king rich. Custom are not cheap by all means.

You also using tuhao custom, i see Kmac and LZ notworthy.gif

Of course the greens are more audible and slightly more tactile than the browns.
I was wrong in using the term no difference... but
I was expecting it blow my mind since razer blackwidows are using ripoff CherryMX and Majestouch is widely regarded to be really good.
It's good I'll admit but not as much as when I switch from a scissors switch to a mechanical switch.
*
Well, I think your hope is too high for it. It's like comparing spritzer and evian. Evian definitely is better, but it's still water anyway. Scissors switch are like boiled tap water.

Next step, modded switch please. tongue.gif

hi guys! give me your suggestion. been using razer blackwidow ultimate 2013 for 2 years and now craving for more mkb feels  drool.gif  willing to throw rm1k+. mostly used for gaming (rhythm game osu o2jam etc). do you think this budget can get me a custom kbd?  icon_question.gif
*
Yes you can. A B87 from Winkeyless Korea.
An acrylic keyboard with RGB lighting on the bottom, you can pick your switches(ergo clears, gateron blacks or whatever MX compatible).
Add on a set of decent Gateron dye-sub PBT. Should be below RM1k.
But you'll need someone to assemble it I think.
If aluminum custom, i'm not so sure that budget is enough.
