If you suffer from foot pain and are thinking of getting customized inserts for your shoes to ease the discomfort, DON'T go to MyFeet. I came across MyFeet in the Jaya mall in Section 14 and was suckered by the salesperson's claim of using Korean technology to assess the weight distribution, etc. to create customized shoe inserts.
Since I'd spent over RM1,000 earlier to get proper customized orthotics, I thought MyFeet's price of RM400 for the inserts was a lot cheaper. But from my earlier experience, I should have known I wouldn't be getting the same result. I was asked to stand on a digital scanning pad hooked up to a computer, which generated a color printout purportedly indicating my weight distribution. Then the shop guy heated some leather-like material and asked me to stand on a pair of pre-fabricated inserts.
When I received my "customized" inserts later, I was told that my feet would eventually get used to the discomfort. I was assured by the staff that there was a one-year guarantee during which time, I could return any time to have it adjusted. I wore it for a few weeks and it caused a different pain from what I usually had. So I took it back and was made to do the same thing with the pad and heated material. In 15 minutes, I was given a full-length insert. This time, the staff said that usually out of 10, 4 customers would experience discomfort. He added: "If this time, you still feel it's uncomfortable, we will refund your money".
I returned a few weeks later, determined to get a refund because the insert didn't fit most of my shoes and most of all, they were uncomfortable for my feet. The staff put up a show of calling the manager who was unreachable, etc. I was told: "The guy who sold you this insert already resigned. It's written on our receipts that we don't give refunds." He said he would continue to try to contact the manager bla bla bla and asked me to leave behind the inserts and bring the receipt later.
When I got home, I received an SMS from the same staff reiterating that they don't give refunds!
What are my options? Go back to the shop and yell at the staff again?
Long story short, I am posting this in the hope that others DON'T get deceived and cheated of money like I was. MyFeet only pretends to customize the inserts. You cannot get a proper pair of customized inserts/orthotics without a mold done of your feet. MyFeet has been featured in the Chinese newspapers, etc. (you can see it displayed in the stores) but that publicity is no guarantee that the product works. Like when buying shoes, you should never be told to "get used to the pain". Wearing poorly fitted inserts will do even more harm to your feet and joints. Why pay to be hurt? Avoid this unethical merchant!
