Why do we need to upgrade the original car stereo?
In order to reduce the cost of a vehicle, manufacturers tend to install low-powered and low-quality stock speaker which are usually is only a two-channel output audio system with a nominal output power of 35W. Truthfully, that is the maximum output power, the actual rated output power should be just about 12W. Stock car audio systems usually sports cone-type speakers which are vulnerable to high temperatures, not water resistant, deforms easily and has poor resistance to vibrations. In terms of performance, one would generally get distortions at the bass and treble as it is controlled by a small capacitor which acts as a crossover unit. This gives the standard car audio the poor, nauseating sound. You may not realize this when listening to the radio but when playing your favourite music, it is obviously powerless. In a dual-channel stereo system, the whole car only has two speakers working correctly. There are improvements in a 4-channel system but with only 12W of rated output power and inferior speakers, one would still face the same problems as above.
Traditional car audio upgrades.
Transformation process is complex and harsh as you will need to punch new holes in the door which may cause the structure to weaken. Drilling new mounting points will also damage the original waterproofed layer which leads to rust. Changing the original cables could damage some electronics, not to mention there is a chance of a fire hazard if done incorrectly.
The overall process is intrusive, are not cheap and very time-consuming as it generally takes a few days. How can one just do this to their car?
