just wanna give a comment regarding some forumers using short form or language which cannot be understand universally..for example..FFK...this shortform is came from cantonese word..why use language which some people cannot understand it....not all forumers in LYN understand cantonese...some of them even from overseas...they cannot understand..unless the short form that many people know..for example..AFAIK...as far as i know..FYI..for your info.....if i'm not mistaken, there are a topic regarding using a right word in describing car..for example black oil..which the proper word is engine oil... http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=273123people still can understand the term....suppose other language word or shortform cannot be used because it is unethical to use this kind of word in universal forum like lowyat.net..unless there are specific threads which that language is the main language for example this thread... http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=351860thank you.. great to see someone treasures properly phrased threads. however this won't change a thing. look at it this way - fighting spam posts are difficult enough.

I dont see why other languages mixed should not be allowed How bout if someone wants to post in Malay? Besides, it adds a little more fun to online forums And terms are different from bad grammar Probably we should filter out members with bad english before disallowing mixed languages This post has been edited by KilJim: Oct 13 2006, 04:50 PM

Besides, it adds a little more fun to online forums And terms are different from bad grammar Probably we should filter out members with bad english before disallowing mixed languages not all people can understand other language...these people also want to participate or understand regarding the topic but if some forumer use this kind of language without taking any consideration to translate it first, this will make a bit difficult to other users....not all user in lowyat.net can understand other language..what i'm trying to say that, lowyat is a medium for everybody to share their interest and discuss about any topic they want..dont make language as an obstacle to them to express their opinion...lowyat.net is for everybody...

If they dont understand a particular post, normally ppl would ask and others would join in to explain If they dont understand the whole thread...something's wrong there, i've never really seen a thread where everyone's posting with mixed language...well not a serious thread at least And like i said, why not make it complusary to have good english instead? Bad english leads to misunderstandings which is even worst than non-understanding QUOTE Lowyat.net is for everybody Wouldn't that be an arguement against what you're trying to suggest? Sekolah Rendah LYN? eih..maybe sekolah menengah LYN la....since all the forumer oso quite old edi~ p/s: To TS, i think for the meantime...can close this thread down..since we cannot come to a conclusion to make every1 use proper english la....if u happen to have children browse in lyn and found out they start using inproper english...then banned them to come to lyn forum.. LYN does not belong to any academical institute or any professional associations. They do not have to ensure that all languages used are in well proper form, I dont want LYN to create another DBP here, its a dumb idea. Members here consists of a 10yr old kid up to senior manager, thats why u mean as universal forum, where diversity is a unique feature of here and malaysia society.
TS if u dont understand certain term, u can ask them in the reply, sure there's people willing to answer you. Its not bad to learn some form of slang of other people.
But I oppose the use of SMS style in serious discussions, if one has the effort to come out a point, then he should have taken effort to make it clearer.
