I just ordered 3 bottles from FragX about 2 weeks ago.  They use DHL again which i dont like as previous DHL delivery I got a warning letter / note from Ministry of Health.  Yesterday, I just got an email from DHL saying that my parcel detained by Customs Kch & the letter from Pharmacy dept of MOH to Customs to detain and refused entry my parcel.  I contacted the Pharmacy dept and was told that importation of perfume is against the law, even for personal use.  MOH has already in their records my previous infringement.

I was told prior notification is allowed for perfume but ONLY if brought in for sales & need to provide lots of infor to obtain the notification num which needs to be renewed every 2 years and each item imported costs RM50.  Basically, it means i cannot buy from overseas online stores anymore as using the "sales notification" method is not worth the extra charges.  Very disappointed as have been getting from FragX since 2010.  No more cheap perfume from now on  sad.gif  Well, if anyone still can try their luck...as long as Customs doesnt refer the parcel to the Pharmacy dept to check...i think they check on all DHL parcel.  Anyway, I have written in to MOH to appeal for them to release my parcel.  Now waiting for reply.

Sorry to hear that and thanks for sharing with us. From what I read, they will check on DHL Express parcels not so for registered mail and it seems that every custom officer knows of FragranceX.

I don't know if the situation would be OK if the parcel is sent via USPS. But then again, that is provided i can specifically tell FragX to deliver it using USPS...which i dont think it can be done as their order and delivery are via system generated.

Ordered 3 bottles from fragrancex last 2 weeks. They used usps for me. Though it reached me after 13 days, luckily no warning or letter from MOH / pharmacy.

This is my 1st time using fragrancex. Really grateful i received my perfumes on time.

Pity you.

Guess it's a difficult time for us to get cheap fragrance after this. Its all about tax i guess.

USPS is no prob. Customs would not checked / asked Pharmacy dept to check. I have asked FragX few times already & they told me that their online system automatically select the shipping mode & they cannot do any manual intervention (which i think its an ineffective system). So, buyers will get either USPS or DHL depends on their "luck". For me, its no-go anymore as Pharmacy has my record & anymore DHL delivery then my perfume will be refused entry.

It is not about the tax. It is the law (Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984) which forbids importation of cosmetics (includ perfumes) under certain situation. The law allows perfumes to be brought in as part of personal luggage solely for personal use in a quantity not exceeding that which may be reasonably required or one month’s use.
For importing by post, this will require an import exemption that is granted by the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health Malaysia (prior notification via detailed application & payment of charges for each item of RM50).

And i would like to mention that many people who have purchased cosmetics online overseas have encountered such experiences with our Customs / Pharmacy dept. The frustrations are immense especially for harmless stuff like perfume or ladies cosmetics for personal use. Even to the extent of simple eye creams or brushes are detained & refused entry merely because they were no prior notifications. rclxub.gif

Logically speaking. Why would fragrencex still ship to Malaysia if almost every fragrance shipment is refused entry and send back? They would have known about this and stop shiping to Malaysia totally if this is the case . Or start shipping solely on USPS . So conclusion is maybe DHL can make this work, most of the time.

sorry for the late update guys...

I got my shipment last week using DHL (even though marked as dangerous goods). Lucky for me no MOH warning letter this time. One of my friends work at BPFK said "sekarang tgh rajin check" but it depends on your luck actually.

FragranceX just restocked their Tom Ford Private Blend. All RM900 onwards.
My budget can only grab a 1 botol of Tuscan Leather. Paid using paypal. So hope can receive it after the Gawai Holidays here.

Just a headsup to anybody who wish to get TFPB

I thought any perfume above RM500 is risked confiscate by custom? They will require you to pay taxes

We're all *toot*up.

If they were really checking for "dangerous goods/cosmetics", they really need to seriously ban all those unauthorized cheap slimming products/beauty products which has never been cleared by pharmaceutical department.. And not to selectively act on our harmless expensive perfumes

Those faggots and fake "Dr" cum businessman and woman are becoming easy billionaires by selling doubtful products which may harm our citizen, but yet no action taken against them

I'd rather they charge me 6% GST than sending me a MOH love letter....

Speaking of learning the smell of each independent scents , I stumbled upon this company Doterra because my friend say there are people bringing in 20kg - 30kg of Doterra essential oil from Singapore to Kch . Each month.

Edit : MLM company . smile.gif

All hope is not lost. There are still online perfume stores that don't use DHL Express.

Just a heads up for those in KL, bestbuyworld is going to have a clearance sale at its office at UOA II on 01-03/Jun.

SOTD - Lonestar Memories to cure my birch tar craving on this cool day.
