Hi,

Can I ask if any of you have come across the most simple type of POS system or software available in the market that can satisfy GST requirements?

Basically for mom and pop shops where training should be minimal, maintenance and support can be done over phone or remote access.

Is it a requirement to use specialized hardware with touch screens?

What about just a laptop with POS software, a handheld scanner with a receipt printer?

Will the POS software suffice or there needs to be another accounting software to do reporting to custom?

What is the lowest cost for a shop to start on 1st Apr?

Thank you!

>> POS system would only much act as a point to collect money $$ only. GST part will be Accounting module on the whole system.

>> Yap, that is on system side.

>> Nope. You can get everything by yourself at lowyat. Just make sure you inform the person who service you.

What about just a laptop with POS software, a handheld scanner with a receipt printer?
>> Also workable. No one should stop you doing that.

Will the POS software suffice or there needs to be another accounting software to do reporting to custom?
>> Overall system you might consider. POS + Inventory + Accounting with GST.

What is the lowest cost for a shop to start on 1st Apr?
>> Software without GST & without hardware - RM 1500++.
>> Software with GST & without hardware - RM 4500++
Need to understand your requirement to get more accurate pricing.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Back to my earlier question. POS is needed to ensure every transaction is recorded, or it doesn't matter? If it is all in the accounting system, can I have only an gst compliant accounting system that shows the total sales of the day?

Thank you.

Base on your business environment.
You still can work it without POS.
Use accounting system - cash sales module record your daily activities.
Kastam's GST does not allow in a figure show total sales of the day.
GST would required all your sales in detail by each item.

Thank you. So is there any gst compliant accounting system out there that can help me to record individual transaction (around 100 a day)? POS will be the most ideal solution but can I just post sales journals in the accounting system everyday instead?

Why not do simple steps and save time.

Using POS + Inventory + Accounting (GST compliant), let the system work it out for you.
Live posting, every 5 to 10 minutes the POS will transfer deduct your stock in Inventory and pass to Accounting side.
End of day, week or month, you just click button to check your reporting.

Another option without POS,
Record your sales manual in paper.
End of day use Inventory & Accounting to record your sales.
End of week or month compound your GST report.
Quarterly summit your GST report.

Sound good? thumbup.gif
