so i have been using unifi 5mbps and satisfied with their service and the contract already finished. whenever someone starts watch youtube/chromecast my ping in dota2 shoots up to 200-1000 ping. so i will need a higher speed so it can compensate some of the lag. using default unifi router and wifi, because my modem is downstairs and pc is upstairs.

so im satisfied with unifi services and want to know about maxis because their speed is higher which is 30mbps vs 20mbps unifi for the same price. i mainly uses the internet for youtube, download movies, torrents and dota2 or other online games. already surveyed maxis but heard mixed reviews about maxis in certain areas but the max speed is tempting.

im staying in ampang near galaxy ampang. really need some opinions.

U will regret changing to Maxis.
Without anyone youtube/streaming, gaming is already lagging like hell.

The only option is upgrade to 10Mbps or subscribe your own Unifi

maxis speed is tempting..but when u start turn on the astro the speed will decreased..btw if normal usage the ping is very high also..i suggest u to stick with unifi..
use aztech homeplug to lower ur ping..use LAN rather than wifi for online games..

Have you implement QoS? If you haven't try QoS first before upgrading your speed wink.gif

Get better router to split the bw properly.. If you upgrade the line also the same.. Youtube will be taken most of the available bw.

game ping depends on server location. if local malaysian server easy to get 50ms. if North American or EU server your ping will be 200+ms... both unifi/maxis also the same... 200+ms although i heard unifi has just a slightly better ping than maxis.....

conclusion : if you game a lot use unifi, if you don't care about gaming use maxis....

EDIT : btw, i'm using maxis home fibre 10mbps . my GW2 ping around 250ms average (north american server)

To my experienced, Maxis Home Fiber is much much better then Unifi, but you need to change the stock router to something better.
