Hi /k, I wanna buy new air conditioner. So anyone know what is the best brand out there for 1.0hp? Planning to get the one with inverter. And do you know which shop sell the cheapest around Petaling Jaya? Thank you! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Saw Daikin is the highest vote in last 2 years
But how about the current quality of Daikin?

Any 1HP air-con that able to achieve 10000 BTU/h is the best. So far, I've never seen the BTU higher than that for 1HP. If the claimed number is right both York and Daikin has that number. Panasonic 9550 BTU/h

York has long been distributed by Malaysian company OYL. In 2006, Daikin bought OYL for 1.1billion pound. So, there is conflict between York and Daikin. During transition because of the contract, OYL initially will still service York for under warranty.

Now I believe York has established their own distribution network already

Why Daikin need to? I think Daiking is 2nd largest air-con company after Carrier smile.gif This is in term of value and mostly the air-con for commercial building. The Gree Electric, the China company, is the biggest manufacturer for residential air-con..

Not to get confused wink.gif

now only 8-10 days a month due to outstation work.
Never even service before. its still working well.]
I wash the filter myself once in awhile.
Havent use other brand before but this unit of mine saves alot of electricity.
i use to on before 15 hours a day everyday in one month.
my electricity bill increase by less than 20 bucks LOL.
i put power saving mode. *24 celcius

I got the 1.0hp inverter triangle design. It's gonna be 3 years this August.

I'm very satisfied with it so far, cools very fast (i guess triangle design isn't just gimmick), and quiet too. Filter is very easy to clean, directly remove it and clean it instead of conventional open cover, remove filter then only clean it.

Haven't done any maintenance other than cleaning filter. Admittedly, i do fear if it may be costly to fix when it breaks down one day, but for the rest of the time, I'm a happy user.

Didn't know Samsung makes cassette type too, can't vouch for that. If you're really worried, just stick with york or daikin, they're both pretty popular, should be much easier to maintain.

Yes its worth replacing for a new one. Especially if you're a constant user of ac, the new technology that has inverter will definitely save your electricity bill in the long run.

Hi, someone commented that Daikin spare part is expensive compared to Panasonic, is it true?

What would u choose between Panasonic and Daikin, inverter or non inverter type if not heavy use (less than 8 hours per day)

aircond oso need maintanence, if not cold try check their gas or outdoor unit. if it's dirty/dusty, clean it, usually will fix the problem..

R32 is premium gas for premium aircond(Daikin Urusara 7 series for example), so if you can afford one such aircond then go for it as it is more environment-friendly..When it comes to safety, should be almost the same with normal R410a

If usage more than 8 hours per day yes u can save with inverter unit, if less than that you can opt for normal aircond..The key in saving is the reasonable temperature setting and accurate BTU calculation matching your room needs..When it comes to maintenance, yes inverter aircond parts tend to be more expensive but when it comes to gas prices it should be the same as all newer aircond(inverter and non inverter included) unit is using R410a (well unless you were getting the more premium unit like Daikin Urusara series, which uses R32 gas)

5-6 hours for 27 degree u can use non inverter as the electricity saving is not that much(the main difference between inverter and non inverter is the compressor can slow down compared to non inverter which only has on and off)

For BTU calculation, there is so much to consider in BTU calculation..room length, width and height..Also need to consider window size, window position, room insulation,number of ppl in room, etc..However to make it simple, just download the Daikin Apps and key in your room spec under heatload calculator*..Once you get the BTU calculation you may purchase the aircond unit which match or exceed the BTU calculation..In general;
1hp aircond - 9000BTU
1.5hp - 12000BTU
2.0hp - 18000BTU

*Sidenote: For the heatload calculator, if your window is not facing sunrise, or if you always cover the window with curtain you can skip the info..just key in your room spec and number of ppl inside the room..
**Sidenote 2: I am not selling or promoting Daikin brand..I just use it as a reference and you may purchase any aircond brand that you like..

great. r32 is more efficient than r410a.
r32 is flammable but it's hard to ignite. even if it leaks, it won't catch fire or blow up.

if i need to buy an ac, it would be one with r32 non inverter. think of the electricity saved and co2 saved. r32 is a more potent green house gas though. but less potent than r410a.

but hey, i bought a hisense fridge with r600a refrigerant, which is even more a flammable isobutane. brows.gif

great. r32 is more efficient than r410a.
r32 is flammable but it's hard to ignite. even if it leaks, it won't catch fire or blow up.

if i need to buy an ac, it would be one with r32 non inverter. think of the electricity saved and co2 saved. r32 is a more potent green house gas though. but less potent than r410a.

but hey, i bought a hisense fridge with r600a refrigerant, which is even more a flammable isobutane.  brows.gif

Not really, test out Electrolux vs diakin 1 hp non inverter

Electrolux have eco mode, slightly lower usage than diakin, set 24 C, running 12 hours, use under 6kwh

mitsubishi heavy industries.

why 'HEAVY INDUSTRIES'? Coz used in industry and use heavily long hours without broken.

I used it from july 2015. guess it how many times I cleaned it? only 2 times in april 2016 and july 2018 and it's still cold like in genting freezing. I only clean my aircon when it's not cold in my bedroom. saving money mah.

never got a problem. one of my bestest buying so far.

Daikin did not buy over york, something about the core licensing thing and york cannot sell under york name, so became daikin or whatever. Or was it York didn't license Daikin core anymore so Daikin came in and sell its own brand.

Anyhow I prefer LG/Panasonic more, and go for inverter if you are using it often in enclosed room (bedroom, not living room). Two of my bedrooms have inverter aircon, on every night, electricity bill came to rm100 only (plus other usage like oven, induction cooker, microwave, non-inverter aircon in living room, washing machine, heater)

Inverter air-cond are abit over rated if you ask me. Not saying there is no saving. Its good especially if you keep it running all day long. But Cost of service would be higher at times.

If you need a good air conditioner service contractor check out Mike Air-Cond contractor.
Experienced & reliable service.

I want to buy a new 1 HP non inverter aircond. Any recommendation? Daikin has the highest votes in the poll. Is Daikin 1HP non inverter aircond reliable? thanks.

Leaky room - non-inverter
Small / air tight - inverter

Old York, daikin, acson - all same company and factory.
Panasonic is second best selling.
Other brand - have spare part issue.

R22's gas had stopped production
R410a's gas is stopping in 2024
R32 is the future

R22 pipe size is .51mm
R410a & R32 is .61mm (recommend .8mm)

R22 > r410a / r32 : should change piping due to different size. No change = pipe bocor in the future.

R410a > r32: Manufacturer advise replacing, contractor advise re-using. Technology wise, r410a is mixture of 50% R32 and 50% r125. I'm on the reuse camp as long as pipe is properly flushed (many contractor fuck up on this, as evident on r22>r410a upgrade) and is <10 years old.

My aircond contractor told me that when he service my aircond it was slimy and hard to clean at times. I am vaping in my room so could that have affected it? Also to note, my Panasonic aircond is 12 years old.

Because of this i am considering to get a new aircond considering the amount of service I've done.
