Hi guys, wanna ask a question about my Nissin Di866 M2 flash.

Using it on a D7k body.

sometimes there is burnt smell coming out / smoke ( not those dark smoke )

sometimes after awhile of usage, sometimes during the first flash i fire.

I've been using this flash for 2 years.

Can i send it to technician to check ? if so where?

thanks in advance smile.gif

Guys and Sifus,
Currently I'm planning an upgrade into full frame.

But I'm am facing a dilemma on either to stick with Nikon and opt for (D610) or switching into Mirrorless ( Sony a7 2nd hand )

I'll be mainly focusing on doing pre-wedding shots and actual days.
(Currently assisting my friend)

Thanks in advance.

not pro but few thing need to consider lor:

you got that much lens and flash gears for F mount, if switch to mirrorless, then you have to buy whole new sets again wor for job sommore.

good thing is mirrorless is light, good for you if your current gear is tiring .... a lighter load would be helps a lot.

but performance of both bodies i duno la, i duno you use burst shot in your job or not hehe.
*
If burst shots in mirrorless will get more right?

hmm...what i plan is to get 1 16-35 first, then only slowly switch, since I'm still shooting in pair with my friend.

ya, one of the main problem is the weigh. it tires my wrist alot.

but I'm not sure that whether is it worth to switch just because of the weight and also in the long run.

thanks for ur in put smile.gif

I would definitely make the jump if only shooting for weddings  thumbup.gif Its too bad its very difficult to shoot macro with mirrorless cameras  cry.gif

The biggest thing that you will be giving up is the feel of the optical finder, although that's also the main reason for the bulkiness and weight (D610 is actually not very heavy already lo  laugh.gif  laugh.gif ); but you gain quite alot from the mirrorless system, especially when the sensors in Sony/Nikon are similar (right?).

The nicest thing about shooting with mirrorless cameras (I have an XT1) I think, apart from the relatively light weight, would be the face detection functon (to me, at least). Its not easy to get faces in focus with an optical viewfinder in some cases where you want to have very thin DOF; and shooting with Liveview on a DSLR is kind of awkward too  sweat.gif

Of course, there are alot of useful functions which are not present in some FF DSLR like WiFi, which is kind of weird since they can be quite useful. And then there's the neat stabilization feature  drool.gif

D: is there any reason to stick with DSLR? ( lets put the weight aside first )

really love DSLR , the shutter sound etc.. but then it seems like mirrorless has much more to offer...

dont wanna leave behind my Siggy 35mm ART sad.gif

oh ya and i like to do street photography as well.. hence the size matters there too..

drop durability, optical view finder especially under strong sun light, you cant see any shi1ts with screen, EVF can see la but got delay one, new model i not sure....

lens for mirrorless i hear also expensive right?  unsure.gif

battery i duno, i not sure which one lasts longer...
*
DSLR more durable ?
Optical view finder cant see clear under strong sun rite? and the EVF will be able to adjust itself iinw.

yea mirrorless lens expensive, but Nikon juz bought over Samsung mirrorless tech right?
really hope nikon could step up its mirrorless tech.. wanna be nikonian 4eva

battery mirrorless one not that good compared to DSLR.

Yes, at least so far I've not seen any Mirrorless that can stand against weather like top of the line SLRs.

Optical view-finder is the best under all conditions because unlike EVF the view-finder is what you view through the glass.

Best part above OVF is you need not power ON your camera to view.
*
but isnt EVF able to dim down the Sun area to protect ur eyes?

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Dec 14 2015, 09:15 AM)
I think the acquisition of Samsung tech by nikon was just a rumor hmm.gif
*
thats kinda disappointing ><

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Dec 14 2015, 10:18 AM)
yeah like goldfries said, weather sealing. also not to mention since D300, D700 both full magnesium alloy body too, now D600 got partial alloy body. i never heard mirrorless got those XD

and even nikon bought samsung tech, don't give high hope on them like nikon1 XD

and OVF is usable in all situation. unless you mean pitch dark one la, that one EVF might usable due to it can project brighter exposure before shoot, but i sure lag one lor because it delay shutter one like phone lol

the one i said not usable under strong sun light is screen, i mean the big screen on camera body, since i not sure which mirrorless got viewfinder one, those without one like NEX3, NEX5 , under sunlight cannot see a single shiat.
*
but as for focusing and auto focus it depends on the model? or generally DSLR/Mirrorless is better than the other?

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 14 2015, 07:26 PM)
because both EVF and LCD requires the sensor to be active, process the information to pass to the screens.

If you forgot to power off then good luck la, even if you set to auto power off also it will drain a while before power off.

Very unlike DSLR, my Nikon D750 go holiday in Taiwan with me already then following week go Singapore cover event - that also still same battery pack all the way, half way through event (with Wi-Fi and all) then only I had to change battery.
*
what u bring in ur kit for holiday? wont it be heavy/bulky? normally I'm with my D7000 and 35mm ART Siggy and 11-16 Tolkina. but true lah, the battery i forget to off 2 weeks still there.
