Warranty? Don't think about it, by shipping from US to Malaysia, if by air, it will take 1-2weeks, follow by customs declarations and it will take.... Well, we knows that their effiency is very high, maybe 2 months or 3 months. Mine last time was 3 months. By waiting the amp to reach your hand, it only left 8 months, then minus out another 2-3 months to ship it back to US if got problem, so in actual the warranty is only 5-6 months. Tha's why when buying the amp, try to get the price that atleast 200-300% cheaper, as warranty you can consider don't have.

Agree with warranty void. Read carefully on term and condition. I agree that is cheaper if you go on vacation and buy it. As long as you get pass the custom without tax that will be great. And plus have to handle with care, coz if the amp get faulty, I would say sorry.

I meet people take back from Aust, amp and woofer of JL audio in super low price by pass custom. He said 1 thing "hand carry like hell~!" But no more warranty.

So the risk is there, you decide to take it or not. smile.gif

Actually what I mean was not warranty void, is because of most of the time wasted on shipping and customs. The chances of getting customs bypassed will be around 50/50 depend on your luck.

Well, it has a tax table, you can have a check on customs website, but if can try to make the package old and declare as used item, you can get cheaper tax.

If not mistaken, study in US can get tax free, I don't know how true is it. Example, if you buy a Rockford Fosgate original speakers P62S, cheapest in US is USD84.5 and you get tax free for it. By taking currency exchange of rm3.7, you will get rm312.65. Here is selling for >rm1.5k.

Tax is 3+1 if not mistake. Just add on another 40% to your total declaration price. Some item you will find worthy. The person I meet was hand carry with very low tax as used item. He used to study there. Even after convert still found very worth. The price include tax and conversion is like RM4k, the item selling here is RM7k.
There's never easy get pass custom. smile.gif

For amps and speakers, it is alright to source from overseas if you know the seller well.
But for HUs, I suggest you source them locally although the local price is a little higher.
The reason is that HUs, unlike amps and speakers, involves a lot of moving parts and is subject to wear and tear.
One good example is the pick-up lens which at best last no more than 5 years.
If you bought the HU from overseas and if the lens gone kaput, it will be very difficult to get the local shops to service it for you.

If you buy from those parallel importers, I don't think they will attend to your problems, esp if it is after 3 years or more.
If you buy from installers in Singapore, then perhaps they will arrange the repair for you.
Having said that, it is always better to make things clear with them before the purchase.

Hello, after so many replies only you say you want to buy from SG.. @#$%^, If like this is much more easier, drive your car in, pay the tolls, pay the parking fees(SGD10), then change your HU, speakers, amps over there. Tax free. But only problem is warranty claims problem later.

my dad's 1st woofer was a RF and it was purely from the state. the bass were so pleasant till now i also can remember the bass.. that time they were really producing great woofers.. but ever since they started 2 produce in china.. all the standard went down..

going back 2 d yrs of mid and late 90s who ever that wants woofer surely they will recomend RF.. during that time.. it was really high end 1s.. (not many distributors during tat time)

i'm not sure wat sort of quality is state havin now.. but normally priority still goes back 2 'em.. tongue.gif

i'm not sure about how g00d is the current higher end of RF's woofer in m'sia market but i guess there is still some standard around there.. tongue.gif

In my experience, ICE equipment in UK is quite pricey due to the VAT.
I came across an Xtant 4 channel amp in Sim Lim SQ (Edison) selling for S$780 (about RM1,850) which I think is quite a good buy, considering the amp is made in the States.

Totally agree with you, I found 2 website to compare the model and price between $ and £, wau.... the outcome is amazing.....

for example, Alpine PDX-4.150 is stated $539.00 vs £499.95... the numerical is not much different, but the dollar sign is a lot different shakehead.gif

By taking 1=6.92, if tax is 40% from the price you buy, then total will be somewhere around rm920. So you will save 480, but this don't have warranty, so can considered as 480 is the warranty.

Well, 1 thing buying from other countries is, the chances that getting imatation is lesser. But depends how you feel it, rm400-500 is not a small amount. Another thing is student can get tax exempted if I not mistaken, if yes then the amp will be rm660 + 1 big makan for your friend.

Tax for electronic product is 40% on declared price. So since your fren bringing, negociate with the vendor to get a cheaper resit, can save some on that. Amp sure taxable. Since your fren carry so, no need buy insurance on it.
Also don't forget the installation charges, unless you install yourself. smile.gif
