is anyone here work in KULIM penang?
i heard the house rental is very cheap? roughly how much? per room!
is the environment good?
is the place safe?
is the food cheap? lot variety?
got entertainment?

I'm not working in Kulim but i got a few friends working there.
Yes, rental is quite cheap. I guess you get RM100 or less per room.
Environment not bad but you won't get a lot of entertainment.
Food of course is very cheap and nice and safe place to stay as well

Kulim is not in Penang.

Kulim rental cheap, food cheap, salary high, money saved a lot, traffic nice, BUT no entertainment, thats the part u need to sacrifice.......

kulim is a ulu place. no one will ever know that place if not bcoz of the high tech park.

it's in kedah, close enough to penang tho. no entertainment and night life there. u gotta drive like 20 minutes to Bukit Mertajam or Butterworth for that.

it's a ok place to live tho. enjoy urself.

kulim is only 10 minutes to butterworth.. it's a good place to settle down..

if u dun wan take highway u can try the normal road, or mengkuang to sg lembu road..

but the normal road which is from bworth bm to macang bubok.. will be slower at working hour... so... take high way better in my opinion

I got relative work in Kulim but stay in Bukit Mertajam. They say rental of house in Kulim is cheap but don't have enough infrastructure and facilities.

What kind of infrastructure and facilities you meant ? All are landed house and cheap!

Sharp Roxy retrenched so many staffs nowaday. Not a stable company.

Kulim for me is a nice place..coz i've been stay a while in KL and for me the KL hassle is too much and Kulim even though not so entertainable but quite a place to settle down if u want to and thanks to Hi-tech Kulim coz make the place for alive

Sg Petani is in the making for Kedah Maju 2010 that's why so many infrastructure here n there and bunglow there also at reasonable cost and got hypermarket too

How long does it take to travel from Penang island using bridge and to reach Kulim High Tech (Silterra) using highway? How early in the morning must you travel?

hi. my hometown is in Kulim. but was born in penang and have grown up in Penang+kulim (primary school in kulim and secondary school in Penang). my parents still there. but after tat continue my college life in kl and now working in kl. settle down in kl d. bought a house at Damansara.

from penang to kulim take bout 1 hour using highway - follow the speed specified in highway. don ever try to speed more than tat cos there are lots of speed trap!!! they all hide in the "jungle" o tree next to the highway. (all previous posts for travel time from kulim to butterworth o penang r wrong!!!!!) if follow the normal road then probably take longer. cos the road is so so so sempit!

Kulim is not tat ulu pls!!!!! nowadays kulim is like shah alam! got supermarkets, n a 7-storey high The Store. but for entertainment is abit.... have to go butterworh o penang la. my house just near the Kulim High Tech Park. bought a land and build a bungalow. last time used to have pokok getah farm nearby but now its all gone! all turn to shop lots! only half year din go back.

the air there so fresh and life there is so so relax. still remember my childhood there. fishing near padi field and swim in the river. the river is so clear and got lots of fish. the water plants everywhere along the river. every morning oso got fog. just like genting... but nowadays no longer see this beautiful morning. such an interesting and memorable childhood. where can u get all this thing in kl? go swim in the big longkang in kl? though its a bit ulu but where can u find all this in busy, urban city like kl???

so it takes abt 1 hr to reach Kulim? ok. thks. the thing abt using the highway is that it is so straight and boring. When it is straight and boring and no scebery along the way or huge bilboards attract your attention and wake up, then I think that highway is very dangerous and very prone to accidents.

Btw, does anyone have friends in Silterra? Ask him/her how many months bonus he/she got. Is it still high?

Not that near. You still need to have own transport. Motorbike will do.

The distance between one plant to another plant is not short. The least you need is a motorcycle. I doubt that there's public bus going into KHTP.

If I could secure a job offer from any firm in KHTP, I don't mind to relocate to Kulim.

The environment is less hassle and peaceful.

But it is very boring place.

During my campus years, the place also boring. Can live with it.

I used to live in Kulim for 1 years and now I moved to Penang ... Well I must say that I'd prefer Kulim for its peacefulness and there's almost no traffic jam ... Compared to Penang ...

If you don't wanna go through the highway tolls you should take the road to Bukit Mertajam ... The road going to Aeon Plaza ... That road is not only cheaper to go but also faster.

Driving from Penang to Kulim about 50 minutes only la ... but the journey doesn't seem long due to the sceneries XD

I used the road before and i agree that it will be the cheapest solution because you can avoid the toll (BKE).

As a student, it is okay. But now you already worked and have stable income. So, i don't think you will get use to it unless you plan for your long term with family.

seriously, I just have a job offered by Intel Kulim. Anyone still seeking a roomate? I need to find a place to sleep at least..

around 10 years ago was at kulim... u can always go penang during weekends. that was what most my superiors/seniors in semi-con did last time. or they stay at penang. kulim also got pasar malam when last time at there. not sure about now. the roasted duck meat nice...

What the hell how did I ended up in this dead tered? Btw I'm Kulim ppl also.. here peaceful .. less stress.... and very very little crime I can tell you. Live here 20+ years.. buying a house here too.
