While we are on the topic of extractors, may I ask what a length-tuned extractor means? Contemplating changing mine, but I've got several definitions of "length-tuned" since I began asking. Are stock extractors length tuned? BTW, Bro soulfly, do you recommend a change of extractor after, say, 10 years of use? Kinda worried about deposit build-up. P.S: If you think this question should be moved to the 'Basic Intake and Exhaust Modification Guide', please do proceed OR let me know

QUOTE(soulfly @ Oct 18 2006, 01:10 AM) "length-tuned" is sometimes overused in advertisements. actually it should be "length-tuned to a certain specifications". u can keep the extractor but change the catalytic converter. there is no need to change any part of the exhaust if it's still in good condition (no rust/leaks) But how about carbon deposits? A few days back, I was cleaning my carb (using a can of carb cleaner) & while cleaning I caught sight of a 2 cubic-CM (...roughly, I didn't take precise measurements ) chunk of what I believe was carbon deposit flying out of my exhaust pipe. I'm unsure of it's origin, but my 1st guess was the muffler. How thick can these carbon deposits be? To the extent of narrowing the exhause passage? Any experiences?

QUOTE(soulfly @ Oct 18 2006, 10:22 PM) ah darn.... didn't realize that u're on carb. they don't have cat converter right? probably it came from the muffler. i don't carbon deposit will really clog extractor though, because that section is very hot.... intake probably yes. Geez... I thought carbon hardens under heat? You mean I can't get that much of deposit even if my carb has been detuned (TOO lean) for a very long time? Intake seems fine. I'll need to get rid of my muffler though, I think this might be the main culptit
