I thought the dvd only comes with an installer inside. Still need download everything. Better start download during early access, or copy the complete game folder from someone.

The disc is the launcher only I think, well not sure for PC since PC I got the digital one, only my PS4 is the disc, for PS4 there is some installation before it downloads, so maybe base game or something in there, not sure. I remember when I set it up on PS4 it took a while then only it start to download about 6GB worth of files.

"Steam wallet" means steam game, those of us that are not on Steam doesn't have that option. WIN only denote the platform, so you can have PS3, PS4, WIN. It's quite suck that anyone that got the Steam version can only buy from Steam.

Argh, sorry, wrong word. It's "game launcher", not "game installer". The DVD only helps you to install launcher, then you download all the patches, i think. If that is true, I can just get the launcher online, right? For those with existing launcher, the launcher will update itself like how it does after every maintenance. Or maybe SE change their mind this time?

Ah 3.0 we getting directX 11 launcher as well, so that will need re-download and I am not sure if only the launcher is affected (hopefully it is just the launcher)

The Steam and non-steam was quite confusing, there were even complains in the official forum about it due to how limiting the steam license is.

When I bought the key from Kinguin and entered the code into Mog Station, there was a fine print that mentioned "Early Access ends on 27 June. Please ensure you enter your registration code by then to continue playing." or something in that line.

So I'm wondering, the 20 digit code that Kinguin gave me is just for early access+pre-order items? I have to buy the actual game as well to have access to the actual registration code that comes with the game?

You need base game for expansion packs?

Not sure I understand your question right but what I meant in my previous post was if we need to buy a physical copy of Heavensward to play the expansion beyond the early access period. Or Kinguin will provide an additional code to us when Heavensward is released. Because my understanding is the 20 digit code it gave us are for early access. Unless I'm sorely mistaken, I did not see where was it stated that this code will also be used to digitally download the expansion when it's out.

Sorry if my question sounded really idiotic. I just need to make sure.

Did u played Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn before ? U must have FFXIV ARR before u can play heavensward.
And the Heavensward didn't come with gametime. Only the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online all-in-one bundle have includes 30days and the standard edition of both FFXIV: ARR and FFXIV: Heavensward. Both must same region

SE likes to make things confusing and complicated.
A Realm Reborn key code = base game
Heavensward key code = expansion
Without base game, you cant play expansion, like any other games
