Overage price per-jet is usd 126 million for Gripen NG, 28 single-seater, 8 unit dual-seater Brazilian 36 Gripen NG Fighter Contract Finalized For $4.55 Billion Source : Our Bureau ~ Dated : Thursday, March 12, 2015 @ 02:57 PMViews : 101 A- A A+
Saab announced Wednesday that it has finalized 36 Brazilian Next Generation Gripen fighter aircraft contract for US$ 4.55 Billion (SEK 39.3 billion).
The contract involves the purchase of a complete turnkey weapon system, and the total package includes training, spare parts, support, planning and maintenance.
“Brazil chose Saab because it wanted to have the very latest technological developments while driving its own industry forward,” says Mikael Franzén, program manager for Gripen in Brazil.
I believe that pricing include tot/ip and assembly line at home in brazil, but still quiet pricey i personally prefer ASH over gripen for malaysia mrca but dont know lah when we gonna buy been dragging this for long2 time already

Huh you mean 2nd hand hornet? I dun think US will sell any of their SH or even legacy hornet. since their f35 project were so fark up. Best option we go for lease gripen + erieye if no budget.
I dont like the idea of 2nd hand airframe, I worried something might go wrong with the engine or the airframe which could risk the pilot life plus loosing some money too
If want make sure those are lowest hour airframe we can get.
tbf gov should just buy new one, for the sake of the pilot safety and should buy this year or next since we have alot of pilot soon will be no plane to fly. If want cheap Fa50 with aesa is good enough
The news source says they would only provide the hull and basic machinery, the weapons would be fitted later by local company
But if only 2 ships, I would rather they opt for mrss.. rmn really need those types Also mrss is not an offensive platform, so no problem if spratly gone bonkers
if that the case, then is good i worried we cant integrate with western combat system. If we want to use china missile also no problem but please make it with western CMS
but still logistically not good to have so many missile type, so yeah use nsm/exocett all the way i think.
for mrss also a good idea if we can get china made,

Exclusive: Boustead Confirms NSM for the Future Gowind class LCS of the Royal Malaysian Navy
On day 2 of the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace exhibition, LIMA 2015, currently held in Malaysia, Navy Recognition met with Anuar Murad, Director of the Defence & Security Division at Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad (BHIC). During our interview, Mr Anuar gave us the latest update on the program and confirmed Malaysia's intend to procure Kongsberg's Naval Strike Missile (NSM) for its future frigates.
“We are now approaching the end of basic design phase two. We have integrated the systems and equipment into the main whole warship design. We have two more combat system equipments that we have not been able to finalize. For the platform systems equipment, we do have all the major ones already in contract and gone through the design review” said Murad Anuar.
Asked about the anti-ship missile capability of the future RMN LCS, Mr Anuar told exclusively to Navy Recognition: “This is one equipment that has been changed as decided by the Government of Malaysia. We have finished the negotiations with Kongsberg Defense Aerospace and we will soon get into contract with Kongsberg for the Naval Strike Missile”.
since no one posted it yet, I will posted here the brief interview with Mr Anuar Director of the Defence & Security Division at Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad (BHIC) during LIMA 2015
what are the main assault rifle malaysia uses? does all branch of military have standard issued assault rifle?
i know for sure ggk, or other special branch will have special and different weaponary, but what about the core assault rifle for the average joe in the military?
haha, so price AH-1Z with all in about usd 63 million each. seem not cheap at all. even cut 500 unit Hellfire, price still need 60 million. anyway just US approval price tag, pakistan not yet confirm to to buy.
how much indo pay for ah64E guardian? tbf last time i mention msia better just go for ASH and ah64e in one whole package, both were made by boeing
Since we a confirm user of the NSM, here video show some insight about the NSM

video description;-
The Naval Strike Missile (NSM) is an anti-ship and land-attack missile developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA).
The original Norwegian name was Nytt sjømålsmissil (literally New sea target missile, indicating that it is the successor of the Penguin missile); the English marketing name Naval Strike Missile was adopted later. The Naval Strike Missile's initial serial production contract was signed in June 2007.[2] It has been chosen by the Royal Norwegian Navy for its new Fridtjof Nansen class frigates and Skjold class patrol boats. In December 2008 the NSM was selected by the Polish Navy, which ordered total 50 land-based missiles (including 2 for testing) under deals from 2008 and 2011, with delivery planned for 2013-2016.[3][4][5]
The final milestone was completed in June 2011 with tests at Point Mugu.[6] On 12 April 2011, the Norwegian Ministry of Defense announced phase 2 of development.[7]
On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, the Royal Norwegian Navy marked history by firing an NSM anti-ship missile for the first time. The vessel in question was the HNoMS Glimt, Skjold class patrol boat.[8]
On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, the Royal Norwegian Navy for the first time test fired an NSM missile carrying a live warhead against a target vessel. The decommissioned Oslo class frigate HNoMS Trondheim was hit and the weapon functioned as intended.[9][10]
In June 2013 Poland completed the Coastal Missile Division equipped for the beginning with 12 NSM and 23 vehicles on Jelcz chassis (inc. six launchers, two TRS-15C radars, six fire control and three command vehicles).[11] Ultimately, the Coastal Missile Division will be equipped with 48 missiles and six launchers. It is believed, Poland is going to establish second missile division in near future. The state-of-the-art design and use of composite materials is meant to give the missile sophisticated stealth capabilities. The missile will weigh slightly more than 400 kg (880 lb) and have a range of at least 185 km (100 nm). NSM is designed for littoral waters ("brown water") as well as for open sea ("green and blue water") scenarios.
Like its Penguin predecessor, NSM is able to fly over and around landmasses, travel in sea skim mode, and then make random manoeuvres in the terminal phase, making it harder to stop by enemy countermeasures. While the Penguin is a yaw-to-turn missile, NSM is based on bank-to-turn flight (see Yaw (flight) and flight control).
The target selection technology provides NSM with a capacity for independent detection, recognition, and discrimination of targets at sea or on the coast. This is possible by the combination of an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker and an onboard target database. NSM is able to navigate by GPS, inertial and terrain reference systems.
After being launched into the air by a solid rocket booster which is jettisoned upon burning out, the missile is propelled to its target in high subsonic speed by a turbojet sustainer engine—leaving the 125 kg multi-purpose blast/fragmentation warhead to do its work, which in case of a ship target means impacting the ship at or near the water line. A multi-role version of the NSM is in development. This missile is called Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and will feature an option for ground strike and a two-way communications line, so that the missile can communicate with the central control room or other missiles in the air. This missile will be integrated with the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II "Joint Strike Fighter". Studies have shown that the F-35 would be able to carry two of these in its internal bays, while additional missiles could be carried externally.
According to Kongsberg, this "multi-role NSM" is the only powered anti-ship missile that will fit inside the F-35's internal bays.[12] Lockheed Martin and Kongsberg have signed a joint-marketing agreement for this air-launched version of the NSM, as well as an agreement committing both parties to integrating the JSM on the F-35 platform.[13][14] The project is funded by Norway and Australia.[15] Kongsberg signed a contract for the first phase of development of the JSM in April, 2009, which is scheduled for completion within 18 months.[16]
Lately the discussion here is still on our spgv, the new nsm, mrca and new att heli.
What about our artillery arsenal? How well equip is malaysia?
Singapore have their own Primus 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer
And the ever so iconic paladin.
So how does malaysia actually rank in this segment?
we currently dont have mobile artillery like the paladin/pzh-2000/k9 but we do have mlrs type that is the astros II, last time there is a talk to buy k9 but since then there is no news

I've been reading about the smart s mk2 radar for the sgpv, i noticed it mention the radar is suitable for essm but i remember last time in this thread someone mention that the radar only suitable for essm and mica but not for aster.
can someone explain why aster not suitable for smart s mk2 radar?
Aster system needed paams/saams compliant system environment to work and they only work with sampson/empar/herakles/kronos radar and a compatible combat management system
The aster needs a whole package to work with, not just the radar itself though the smart-s is not compatible with such system
QUOTE(pcboss00 @ Apr 19 2015, 09:35 AM)
Search radar (smart s) is not the problem, but guidance radar aka fire control radar. In this case we use TMX/EO MK 2/TMEO Mk2 electro-optical tracking system as guidance system. Unlike other system, ESSM use illumination to hit target and it never been paired (since TMX/EO MK 2/TMEO Mk2 is a new product).
QUOTE(thpace @ Apr 19 2015, 10:00 AM)
Smart s mk2 is a search radar and not a muti-mode like herakles radar which can do both search n fire control
To counter this, we installed a seperate fire control radar TMX/EO MK 2. Althought it very precise but it capability basically limit it engagement range to 80km at best. Thus, vl mica fit tat space.
Iimm we also can install aster system if we install sylver vls A60 and change our fire control radar
