well thlatest Mi-171 v5 (latest with glass cockpit) price about usd 19 milion+.  RM 150 million about 40 milllion usd, should able to get 2 unit. but i dont think they will get new mi-171. other possible is 1 unit  AW189 cost about 30 million or AW101 about usd 40 million, if Bomba want get advance heli off couse AW101 much better choose.
*
I don't think advanced types are what the Jabatan Bomba is looking for, just a heavy-haul helicopter for transport purposes.

depend Bomba requirement loh, how much equipment want to install like FLIR, lights, SAR etc, AW101 event can include advance firefighting bag inside heli so can use to put down fire during forest fire.
*
Probably later, now Bomba concentrating on heavy haul to handle emergency situations like annual floods and stuff like that. Currently no indication they are looking for dedicated SAR or firefighting helicopters.

If Bomba is looking just for medium-capability helicopters, I think can get at least 3-4 with that RM150 Million.

ya, but not much heavy helicopter in market, mostly Mi-26 or Chinook ...  biggrin.gif
*
Wah not that kind of heavy la bro. biggrin.gif

I think if Jabatan Bomba wants heavy haul helicopters, they should look for more Mi-171s to add to the current fleet. Not Mi-8. mind you.

well not sure can get more mi-171 or not, bomba mi-171 also force to use (get from ex-polis heli) due to can't get register by DCA due to lack of international body certification mi-171 heli. although final get register but get limited fly if not wrong.

Huh, that's a weird problem if it involves a government helicopter. If private owner get this problem can probably understand la, but government?

I thot if menteri say OK, then things will be OK? laugh.gif

Not that surprising. Even in its heyday, SU air force could have never reached NATO levels of air superiority.

Russia to deploy 9K720 Iskander (NATO: SS-26 'Stone') SRBM to Kaliningrad as relations with western Europe deteriorates

A Russian army Iskander SRBM launcher prepares to erect the missile during readiness exercises

Russia plans to station state-of-the art missiles in its westernmost Baltic enclave and deploy nuclear-capable bombers to Crimea as part of massive redeployment to showcase its resurgent military power amid bitter tensions with the West over Ukraine.

The Iskander missiles will be sent to the Kaliningrad region that borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania, said a Defence Ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to comment publicly. The deployment of the Iskander missiles will allow Russia to reach targets all over the Baltic states, Poland and eastern Germany.

The official also said Russia will deploy long-range, nuclear-capable Tu-22M3 bombers to Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula that Russia annexed from Ukraine a year ago.

In ongoing unrest in Yemen, US 'loses track' of $500 Million USD worth of weapons

A Houthi rebel shoulders his rifle as he patrols a neighborhood in Sanaa, the capital of Yemen

In the ongoing unrest that forced the United States to close its embassy in Sanaa, Yemen, last month also has caused Pentagon officials to admit that they’ve lost track of $500 million in military equipment, including helicopters, Humvees and ammunition, that it donated to the country, The Washington Post reports.

U.S. officials told the newspaper that they fear the “small arms, ammunition, night-vision goggles, patrol boats, vehicles and other supplies” may have slipped into the hands of Iranian-backed rebels or al-Qaida.

“We have to assume it’s completely compromised and gone,” an unnamed legislative aide on Capitol Hill told The Washington Post.

According to the newspaper, this is what is presumed missing:

• 1,250,000 rounds of ammunition
• 200 Glock 9 mm pistols
• 200 M-4 rifles
• 4 Huey II helicopters
• 2 Cessna 208 transport and surveillance aircraft
• 2 coastal patrol boats
• 1 CN-235 transport and surveillance aircraft
• 4 hand-launched Raven drones
• 160 Humvees
• 250 suits of body armor
• 300 sets of night-vision goggles

I don't think a nuclear-powered, 110 meter long submarine can be considered a 'midget' submarine. Shows how 'learned and informative' the writer of this article really is. The sub is actually is at par with US Navy Los Angeles-class submarines. laugh.gif

I love it when people equate any SF force to "X country's equivalent of the Navy SEALs". Al-Quds Force is nothing of the sort, in fact it would be further from the truth.

Well, if you're playing the comparison game, Quds force is much more aligned with the Green Beret-type of operations: training of local militia forces, low-profile secret extraterritorial operations and providing advice & handling military supplies to friendly armies. Hardly the direct action specialists the Navy SEALs are. laugh.gif

Any significant effect on these Nuris being redeployed to direct army control (PUTD) instead of TUDM?

My guess is some of the current air force pilots will temporarily works under the army to train new pilots or maybe transfer terus to army

And the kluang putd base will undergo some upgrade to support these helis
*
I mean from doctrine and usage POV.

Now free for army to use helicopters anytime perhaps, instead of filling application forms to TUDM everytime want to use helicopters? laugh.gif

Another reason to still use the OTO-Melara pack howitzer, it's light and easy to transport by helicopter, even to the middle of nowhere!
A Nuri helicopter could probably transport the gun, the whole crew and a sizeable amount of ammunition in one go.

Oh, TQVM. notworthy.gif

I thought all the Nuris will be redeployed to PUTD with TUDM looking to buy more EC725 helicopters in the future. Also, is it true TUDM ordered 12 EC725 only? Wonder how many actually delivered at this time?

UAE to buy 4,500 used US MRAP vehicles together with advanced ATACMS MLRS missiles in a deal worth $3.5 Billion USD

QUOTE
In an unprecedented move the the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has approached the US government to some 4,500 used Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles. Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the vehicles include about 3,360 International MaxxPro of various types and 1,150 BAE Systems Caiman multi-terrain vehicles. 44 MRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV) are also bundled in the package that is expected to cost over $2.5 billion. Sofar the US Army has donated these vehicles to foreign countries that supported the fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to domestic police and law enforcement agencies in the USA.

The package could include 4,569 MRAP Vehicles of the following types:

1,085 MaxxPro Long Wheel Base (LWB) chassis
29 MaxxPro LWB
264 MaxxPro Base/MRAP Expedient Armor Program (MEAP – augmented side armor)
729 MaxxPro Bases
283 MaxxPro MEAP without armor
970 MaxxPro Plus (up-armored against IEDs)
1,150 Caiman Multi-Terrain Vehicles (without add-on armor)
44 MRAP All-Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV)
15 MRAP Recovery Vehicles

In addition to the MRAP package the US has also approved the sale of 100 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) medium range ballistic missiles to the UAE. Those missiles comprise the M57 Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) rockets with T2K (Block IA Unitary) warheads weighing 500 lb.

The missiles will be loaded on a battalion of 12 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) launchers, 12 resupply vehicles and 65 unitary pods each comprising six Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (GMLRS). The estimated cost of this missile package is $900 million. The UAE has been operating a regiment equipped with 20 HIMARS launchers carrying ATACMS since 2006. In 2010 the US Government approved the sale of 100 missiles for the UAE, replacing the previously supplied cluster-munitioned versions with new designs using the T2K unitary warhead.
