I have Sony action cam AZ1 and I like it because of the small size. Unfortunately Sony has not come out with the underwater diving housing and lens.

get xiaomi, here are the detailed reason

no 4k-4k is not yet mainstream yet, even u shoot 4k,not much ppl have 4k monitor to view ur content.so we are happy with 1080p.

16MegaPixel still-gopro hero4 black only have 12MP

1080p@60fps + 720p@120fps-although gopro can offer twice fps at same resolution, but even for advance user,60fps/120fps is high enough.*if u wan crazy 240fps in xiaomi,u can do it in 480p though.

7fps photo-although xiaomi 7fps photo burst rate is nothing compared with gopro 30fps photo burst rate, but you are buying a videocam rite?not a dslr.So the photo burst rate doesnt really matter since u mainly use it for video recording.

similar/comparable feature

battery-1010mAh(xiaomi) vs 1160mAh(gopro)*almost same

video format-both use mp4 h.264 codec

wifi-both have this feature

MOST IMPORTANTLY
video quality is often affect by the stability of ur footage,so u can use the saved money to buy a gud gimbal/stabliser/steadicam to have a silky smooth rock steady video even u running or taking a ride on bumpy road.shaky 4k@240fps footage is useless compared with 720p@24fps silky smooth footage.
So,stability is the key for professional look.

was thinking bout this 2 also..
but far most important. i need a decent memory card.
plenty of times to spend on editing and transferring because of its high quality.

Coming from a company that challenges the notion of you get what you've paid... Many people have their hopes up.
Their battery bank was by far better than any battery bank at its price range when it was first introduced. The redmi and mi phones are pretty amazing for its price too.

However, xiaomi did not make this Yi camera and it's about as good as your random china brand sports cam.

If you want just simple record video at decent quality XIAOMI YII with basic feature is good.
But if you want to record video with full control over the shutter speed, ISO sensitivity and other feature to create fantastic videos and photo GoPro HERO 4.
If you want to buy GoPro just because its cool don't waste money on it because full potential of GoPro only can be unlocked if you really know how to use it by "tuning and manual handling". Get a XIAOMI YII if you want less headache and less setup.

XIAOMI YII = Out of box ready to record video. So if you're not thinkering around with image setup, shutter management and in budget this one is great value.

GOPRO HERO 4
= Professional video recording with total video/image control for quality video/photography generating RAW file. Great camera for post video/image editing works on PRO TUNE raw file.

So can't compare between orange and apple both seems to cater different purposes.
Remember the size of of MEGA PIXEL doesn't justify the camera quality level. Its the internal CMOS sensors light sensitivity that count and the "Bit Rate" quality it produce. Quality over quantity.

Here are my snapshots on HERO 4 which i able to control the ISO, shutter speed, sharpness and other special effect:

Agree with your point, 4K video is not yet mainstream... As long as Xiao Yii's quality is reliable I don't see the reason of paying double price for Go Pro
