hello sifus..i read through this v5 forum..i kinda got the conclusion of:

- lite-on 900s choice for everyone (general use)
- v300 not worth the cash

I got an offer for GSkill Phoenix 120gb at RM190 each (thinking of RAID, or buy 2 so one dedicated for gaming one for windows).
Never heard of GSkill except for their ripjaws i own

so which should i go for if I want to prepare for this November Nuclear Holocaust,

- Samsung 850 EVO 250gb
- LiteOn 900S 256gb
- Others?

Budget can be higher but of course, prefer lower...RM500-600..

Thank you.

in short, as of now, liteon is a good buy, especially its relative price points, and their many advantages (e.g. reputation, internal components, etc.)

what's the exact model for that g.skill ssd? it might be the older sata2 (3Gb/s) model (max r/w speed around 250MB/s. it might be lower). if you're getting a phoenix iii at myr 190, then you have gotten a good deal. it's selling at usd 188+ at newegg.

hmm..so it goes down to 900S or Phoneix III, can I know how good is G Skill? Not much review here in Malaysia =\

i think for that part you might wanna do a small research by yourself. you can also scout garage sales for better price tags.
no idea about how good a gskill phoenix iii is. to me it's a typical sandforce sf-2281 drive, released in 2013. compared to s900, i will still pick up liteon.

the minimal requirement is ahci, which i believe is available in new mobos. no you don't need srt. it's for ssd caching.

thank you for the help! had to google for AHCI, but managed to read more about SRT =)
