How many GB did you get for Intel 600P NVME SSD?

Seems quite reasonable and also a lot faster than the regular SATA SSD. Perhaps, I will get this for my Malaysian home PC in the long run.

you might need to reconsider though on 600p's performance consistency

QUOTE
Even with our expectations thus lowered, the Intel SSD 600p fails to measure up. But this isn't a simple case of a budget drive that turns out to be far slower than its specifications would imply. The SSD 600p does offer peak performance that is as high as promised. The trouble is that it only provides that performance in a narrow range of circumstances, and most of our usual benchmarks go far beyond that and show the 600p at its worst.

The biggest problem with the Intel SSD 600p seems to be its implementation of SLC caching. The cache is plenty and its fixed size prevents the drive from performing vastly worse when full, the way the Crucial MX300 and OCZ VX500 suffer. But the 600p sends all writes through the SLC cache even when it is full, which creates extra work for the SSD controller, and the SM2260 can't keep up. Once the SLC cache has been filled, further sustained writes will put the drive through frequent garbage collection cycles to flush part of the SLC cache. While that extra background work is proceeding, the 600p slows to a crawl and peak write latencies can spike to over half a second.

better off getting another SATA SSD that is more consistent

yeah battery is consumable, but it's replaceable. it's the same as laptop battery. (you don't need to replace it every year) the more important point is still protect more expensive hardware components, and data in a system.

after using 960 evo/nvme for a while, yeah on paper it's like day and night by comparing r/w speeds in benchmark.

[attachmentid=8760738]

in real world use, no noticeable difference (compared to my sm951/ahci). it's worst if you're using it for normal use. getting much cheaper and large sata ssd is a better option.

i guess the issue is that is it a necessary purchase (the UPS part)

say for eg me,
>live in a pretty decent area where rarely power trip
>house is still new, the short circuit protection is still fantastic
>dont really do any critical work related stuff on PC
>made sufficient backups routinely

i still dont see the need for UPS due to above blush.gif

going on a random case once in a friend's LAN party thou, he had a split second power trip (literally extremely short) his TV, electronics noticeably turned off before coming back on. his PC had to restart, my PC was still running hmm.gif

could this be due to built in protection in my PSU?

960evo is still expensive to me.
Not sure Intel 600p is ok since it is much cheaper?

if youre okay with the "weaker" performance, then its good enough

finally the usual report from hardware.fr was out.

for ssds, the top brands with the least return rates:

1. Samsung 0,17% (previously 0,20%)
2. Intel 0,19% (previously 0,27%)
3. Crucial 0,31% (previously 0,28%)
4. Sandisk 0,31% (previously 0,62%)
5. Corsair 0,36% (previously 1,67%)
6. Kingston 0,44% (previously 0,29%)

ssds with highest return rates:
3,59% Kingston SSDNow KC400 Series 512gb
1,37% Crucial MX200 500gb
1,08% Crucial MX200 1tb
0,95% SanDisk SSD PLUS 480gb
0,93% Kingston SSDNow M.2 SATA G2 480gb

for more information, http://www.hardware.fr/articles/962-7/ssd.html

also don't forget to check out http://www.hardware.fr/articles/962-8/conclusion.html

edit: will be switching to 960 pro when i have the time to set it up. it's been in the package for too long :/

can we attribute that drop for Intel due to lack of competitive SSDs against others out there atm? biggrin.gif

since 530s, somehow nothing improved

i have 5 SSD in my small pc casing .

by the way , i am a bit worry of the SSD ,  recently the weather is super hot and i am running my pc about 4-6 hours daily ,

did you think i shall install a case fan in order to ensure the ssd running good and lifespan longer ?

check the temps of the SSDs

if its nowhere above 60C i wouldnt worry
