Alrighty lets get to work. The more I dont do this the more I'll constantly be thinking about doing this. Going back 5 pages...
While most things have probably been addressed, I'll go through again to make sure. And to give my own unique perspective on the solutions to the problems stated. It's gonna involve the word "Big Mac" being used over and over so brace yourself. You'll be sick of big macs before this is through.
Page 55
@ ik3da
>> Reading from what you guys posted, so if I just eat like mad without decent amount of working out - all I will get is just a bloated / fat stomach in the end?
◘ Really? I'm not going back further than page 5 I'll go insane from reading if I do. But anyway, no.
Lets clear some things straight away.
Eat 5 times a day. That is, every 3 hours. Anytime you eat there's a 3 hour time limit for when you need to eat again. If you eat at 1:15 pm, you have until 4:15 pm to eat again. If you eat earlier than that, say 3:05 pm, then your 3 hour time limit is restarted to 6:05 pm.
Doing this means that the body is less willing and less able to store fat. Frequent meals inhibit (stop) the enzymes responsible for fat storage.
If athlete A eats 3,500 calories a day and trains hard
Athlete B eats 3,500 calories a day and trains hard - but also eats in the every-3-hours method explained here, at the end of 12 weeks, athlete B will be much leaner, even though both did the same amount of work, ate the same number of calories, and ate the same types of food.
Now I've explained here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1682500/+20 - about protein already. You need to include some protein in every meal (for the reasons I gave in that link), along with some fats. Carbs are adjusted up and down based on
what you are about to do. If you got a full schedule ahead of watching Astro, then you probably dont need to eat 5 jelly donuts. However, if you're about to run a 10 k marathon, you'll need at least twice as many jelly donuts to get through the race.
Similarly, if you just
finished exercise, you need those carbs too - based on what kind of exercise you did. Powerlifters wont need nearly as many carbs as bodybuilders.
Now I'm sure all this has probably been said already, but there it is again. Onward to the nonsense!
Still @ ik3da
>> Bout working out, any specific stuff that I can / should do to control the fat stomach?
◘ How aboutttttt... not eating so much?
@ neato4u
>> For me, i'm fasting - and yes I do see some improvements. Hungry - yes of course, but at the same time feel healthier too because i burn off fat.
◘ Short-lived fasts on occasion can have some health benefits. See here:
http://kaseybrownfitness.blogspot.com/2010/07/ramadan.html(You know, it's incredible. It's like I've already written an article on everything here...)But fasts lasting longer than a day should be avoided for reasons discussed in the above link.
>> Buy those from websites? Which one is reliable?
◘ Email me the site / product and I'll tell you.

>> Anyone up for dancing? Dancing can be a form of an exercise too.
◘ You uh... heh. Wanna dance? I um... you know... dont know how to dance, but we can go somewhere alone and you can teach m - wait, posted back in August 2009??? Crap!! Yea someone's probably already danced with her.

◘ Big macs plzkthx bai!
>> Any product can recommend to me as I've tried Appeton weight gain before no in vain... serious mass? true mass? CytoSport Cytogainer?
◘ Big Macs? Double cheese burgers? Pizza hut?
@ Neato4u
>> I mean, anything that not quite hard as weight lifting, maybe some light exercise will do?
◘ What you mean like walking? Really I was about to say you could lift really light weights a bunch of time. This will burn more and the result is greater glyconic update and more sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. But you're saying something besides weight lifting... like you want something even
easier than the itty bitty pink dumbbells you sometimes find at gay gyms. Come on man.
@ XeonBox
>> eat more , exercise less.. lazy more.. sure gain weight. :/
◘ GIVE THIS MAN A CIGAR!!!
Then take that cigar away. Smoking's bad for your health.

>> Any of your have try GOMAD method of gain weight?
◘ Oh that is just sweet. I tell you, I will never quite get over how capitalism can take such an ordinary idea like "Drink more milk", slap a name on it, and presto - instant marketing and sales. Christ I have seriously got to start doing this...
Eat Five Cheeseburgers A Day... EF-CAD! If you cant GOMAD... try to EF-CAD! Holy shit I swear to god I'm a genius. Someone get Donald Trump on the phone...
@ toby913
>> Eat before sleeping or sleep after eating.
This is an absolutely no-no to me..
I don wan to gain weight!
◘ That's why you're posting... in a weight gaining thread.
GAAAHHHH MY EYESSS!
>> hey, i gave the tip!
If u wan to gain weight,
just have ur meal before u sleep..
It will probably works!
◘ make it stop... make it stop... make it stop...
God I got 4 more pages of this to go how am I ever going to make it...
You gain weight by eating more calories than you need. During sleep your body releases growth hormone. Eating lots of carbs before you sleep spikes your insulin levels, which competes with growth hormone, meaning sleep can be less restorative.
You feel sleepy after eating carbs and protein because the carbohydrates help digest the protein and liberate the amino acid tryptophan, which in turn produces higher levels of seretonin, which is involved in adjusting the body's circadian rhythm, making you sleepy if you haven't already slept enough.
But no you shouldn't deliberately do this.
@ King83
>> Why do threads like this keep popping up like mushrooms after the rain?
◘ I dont know dude but reading these does make me wanna take some mushrooms and trip out to Pink Floyd back at my place with a bag of Doritoes and box of cold drinks.
... in fact that's not a bad idea. Who's free this weekend?
@ macpro2
>> i manage to gain weight from 55kg underweight to 60kg in 2-3 month (age33)
>> by consuming organic Hemp protein+rice protein+Spirulina+Chlorella.
◘ Sorry I got as far as "hemp" then something something something... anyway yea, weed will give you the munchies too. Smoke some hemp, eat some mushrooms...
Seriously who's free this weekend???
>> some ppl has difficulties gaining weight... like me and my roomate... we'll eat like some barbarian
◘ Yea, like 2 scrawny sickly barbarians with a bad case of the flu.
>> but yet doesnt gain weight...
◘ Sorry, but asking for an extra scoop of rice does
not make you a barbarian.
I can remember when I was doing competitive bodybuilding in America. For one meal I'd have 2 super sized fries (for you guys thats around 1 large fries plus 1.5 small fries), 2 double cheese burgers, and a large coke. Immediately after my workout I'd have 2 or 3 recovery drinks (around 200 to 250 calories each). 3 hours later I'd have 3 buritoes, and maybe a couple of tacos. 3 hours later I'd have a bowl of ice cream followed by a large bag of chips and 1 or 2 double decked beef sandwiches. I'd end the day with a large chicken salad and maybe some protein bars.
That doesn't include breakfast.
Now look at that and tell me you eat like a barbarian. You don't. That's probably more than you eat in a week.
>> 2 of us will order 6 ppl's food each time
>> and its always fun to see the look of the waiter's face... question like "is there anyone else coming?"
◘ Tell him "yea, 6 anorexic teenage girls".
>> You will NEVER reach your potential without doing the squats and deads.
◘ That's actually true though.
@ LOOOOOOL
>> tat sales gul
◘ girl
>> told me a full scoop of powder 3 times a day for best result. but after i open the cap, i saw a really huge 'spoon' in there, izit correct to take a full 'spoon' for each serving?? or am i getting the wrong idea from tat sales gul? -.-"
◘ girl
And yes, you take full spoon.
>> lolz...tats too much
◘ Asking you to take 1 single spoon of weight gainer is too much.
THATS why you're under weight.
@ Neo_Y
>> I'm 20 with 50kg and 168cm. Look very skinny and small, no matter how much I eat, I just won't grow even 1 kg. I want to gain weight, in fact, "eating" and "exercise" won't work on me.
◘ Eat 10 big macs.
I DARE you not to gain weight.
>> Any other way can I take?
◘ Cheeseburgers. 10 of em. Go!
Added on December 24, 2010, 11:38 pmPage 57
@ Yeelin04
>> i also want to gain weight ley...
160cm / 36.7 kgs...
◘ My god what are you a holocaust survivor? I swear if you get any thinner and I could tie you to a string and fly you as a kite. You get any thinner and you can turn sideways and disappear! You want me to fold you up in an envelope and mail you off to Jenny Craig? I bet you could hide behind a toothpick! Getting X rays must be cheap. All you need to do is stand in front of a really right light. You make Olive Oil look like Ronnie Coleman.
Ok I'm out of skinny jokes. Moving on.
@ yeah_guyz
>>
1. Shut up and stop complaining that you cant gain weight even you eat like cow
2. Enough for the stupid time hanging in front computer to watch those HK/ TW drama and dota and you tell me you have to no time to gym?
3. Go to the gym and lift the weight. Squat, Bench Press, Overhead Press, Deadlift, Row! (google for the guide, there is alot of usefull guideline in internet, and it is FOC) go to gym and doing countless biceps curls doesnt count as a gym day
4. Eat frequent meal with balance nutrition.
◘ 5. BIG MACS!
@ MasterMosquito
>> Is going to gym to build some muscle weight the only solution to increase weight? Because I've tried other methods and the only thing I've not tried is building up muscle weights. Does it actually work?
◘ Nah it totally doesn't man. If it worked you'd see muscular guys with like, really really big biceps and all walking around. I think it must be like... a conspiracy to sell gym member-
YES IT WORKS WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU ASKING???@ BelowAverage
>> usually hard gainer like us gain strench mark is quite slim.
is so hard for us to gain weight, so strech mark is out of question~
◘ Unless, you like... started eating. THEN maybe.
@ jasmineh2y
>> To share you my experience, my weight is around 38-40kg all the while.
I tried eat many supplements and even the detox thingy also help.
◘ Detox is a myth. I just came back this evening from giving a mini-lecture on the subject in Melawati. I should probably make a blog post on that sometime soon.
>> As i heard that we need to detox first so that our body able to absorb the maximum nutritious from foods.
◘ Baloney. Whoever told you that is either just trying to sell you a detox session, or is someone misguided by another person who was trying to sell them a detox session.
Your body comes fully equipped with everything it needs to detox itself. Your liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, immune system, and even your sweat glands work round the clock 24 hours to keep you detoxed. If they didn't, you would die.
During the lecture I was challenged (which I appreciate as it helps us delve into the subject more thoroughly and ensure the audience that my facts are right) and special populations were brought up. It's quite true that if you have kidney failure, liver failure, or any number of diseases in which one of your bodily organs no longer functions properly, then you may need treatment that would count as "detox" (like a kidney dialysis machine), but this requires that you have symptoms which are diagnosed, and that such treatment is prescribed, usually by a doctor.
If you are without any disease or condition that would require otherwise, and you have not been poisoned (such as a Panadol overdose or supplemental iron overdose), then you do not ever need "Detox".
>> All these i done about 2 years (stop and continue) but all these not working for me.
◘ Yea. What a surprise.
>> Until i started eat balanced meals and do exercise twice a week.
I managed to gain weight about 1Kg a month, my weight now is 43KG.
Please remind that, seems we are gaining weight, so must not allow our stomach empty.
◘ Now there's some good advice.
>> You must look for food as long as you feel hungry, eat something healthy not snacks!!!
◘ *sigh* ('-' )
>> Remember not sit immediately after meal, else your stomach is gaining before your muscle
◘ No, that's not how it works.
@ shinningteen
>> My 1st goal is to gained muscle mass
>> But I had problem with my routine. At here I am also a marathon runner.
◘ You can't do both. How many muscular marathon runners have you seen? I've never seen one. You can either be a "sorta-average runner" with some lean muscle, or you can be a great runner with very little muscle. Make up your mind first which you wanna be.
If you still want the muscle you'll need to cut out all the running. I almost never run more than 2 or 3 k, which I can clear in about 12 minutes.
