Me here too...I think its :
1. So annyoing
2. Slow down my surfing cos must see that adver blocking link
3. Slow down my pc (beza if got advert or not cos my pc already slow put more flash advert made it more slower)
4. If click any place in page it will go to motorola website cos kinda annyoing me (cos i click to go to other lyn thread instead i go to motorola website)

P/S : i know this adver is income for lyn to stay alive and become free forum but i hope u can used better/other advert method than slow down my pc and made me menyampah to motorola...i think advert is to made u feel love to product not hating it rite lol...

Juz my 2 cents

Same thing happened for Safari here, below is the screenshot showing the actual area cover by the advert. Everything under the grey area is un-clickable.

i think the astro ad was intended to put in that place purposely. everytime i want to click the Lowyat link, it will pop up before i managed to click it. ended up clicking the ads multiple times. i got annoyed as it disrupted my surfing.

being supportive of lyn, i clicked the ad (lyn will get referral bonus). but it didn't go away after that. how many more times i have to click it?

ok guys, the alignment problem was due to css caching, basically we updated the css file, but your browsers still cached the old file. A control + shift + F5 or a Ctrl + F5 on IE will fix it.

The unclickable links below the ad is a firefox/mozilla specific problem, its being worked on now. The ads have been removed till we get it fixed.

Frankly speaking, we accepted this ads on a trial basis. The emphasis on trial, so there is bound to be a lot of problems that have to be sorted out as it comes up. We also had no idea of how these ads would behave or intefere with the forum. We will not be accepting ads of this nature in the future, however, due to the costs of producing these ads, we're bound to honour the trial period ( 1 week) that we agreed to.

Also, the motorola ad is capped, which means you only get to see it expanded one time and it will revert to a normal ad after that.

Do bear with us. We're sorry for the inconvinience.

We *think* we have already solved this. But if you still can't click your PM messages even now, then we might have to look into it. Could you provide a screenshot of the page where the links don't work?

Just relating my experience.

I'm using firefox. It was annoying on last week as the Motorola ad keep on covering the Active Threads and New Threads section almost every single time i reload Lowyat main page (not the forum main page), but now no more.

Currently I do notice a slowdown in forum. Sometime i get script warning message as well (view pic attached) , just half an hour ago and also happen on last week. But i'm not sure whether it is the main page or the forum page.

the slowness on the site is due to the server being heavily loaded. the ads are hosted independently by the advertisor.

Yes, the links issue happened on the main page, as well as the forums. We think we've already sorted it out.

The script timing out error is firefox specific, and it *only* happens if you leave your page idle for a specific amount of time (30 minutes i think). Its not a critical error, just the script timing out. IE doesn't display it, firefox does.

se7en, any chances of NOT using those flashy ads after the 1-week trial period?

seriously, it annoys

i do understand the need of the revenue gained from the ads

but those kind of ads (astro, motorola) are invading my life. it takes up huge resources on my old computer, eating up valuable batt life out of my ultra portable, and is practically visually disturbing

can we have the traditional, simple flash ads rather than these? it's not like we are gonna click the adas anyway (heck, those who surf LYN should be internet savvy guy who doesn't click ads rite?)

i think i did mention it above, these ads were accepted on a 1 week trial basis, which we had to honour. We already made the decision not to accept these type of ads long before they were activated on the site. This would be the first and last time these ads are used.

Oddly enough the ad works fine in my Musang Api. Sure, it gets in the way, but it obediently goes back to it's "kennel" when I click "close".
