Tested the Samsung gear s2. I'm not impressed with the screen, but the bezel rotate design are innovating.

I'm thinking of testing it after work today. In what way are u not impressed with the screen? Display? Size?

I usually don't brag about the viewing angle. But the display between the screen, there are huge air gap in there. sweat.gif You test it, you understand what I'm saying. sweat.gif

ya... the glass like floating on top of the display panel. just got mine (s2 classic), will test it out after work. but for 1279, with extra wireless charger throw-in.

i think still worth ba.. if battery can last better than apple watch la...

I've played with them. Classic & regular. I'm not that familiar with smart watch but the display or gap doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is that i cant decide which one to pick of i were to buy one. Lol. I was dead set on regular until i saw classic. Lol

the gear s2 is very smooth for the navigation and stock apps. I do read in the other forum if the apps do open alot in the background, it will slow down the watch. Actually i did not have this problem but i do facing some bugs in the software before the first update.

I really like the navigation ring and user interface. the screen is very beautiful and bright. i do not have any problem with the display under sun light. I do like the S health app also. The battery is also last around 2 day.
the biggest cons of gear s2 is the S-voice (If you like to talk to your watch). i find it not so accurate recognize my voice. The other biggest cons is the availability of third parties apps as you stated. It is generally new watch and new tizen interface for the watch. the third parties apps support may get better as time goes by. this one have to wait and see. I think these two aspects android wear is way better than gear s2.

I dont have much complaint about the apps available for gear s2 since it is only got 1.2inch screen, more complicate task you do want to use your phone anyway. But i do like to have a rss reader or podcast apps and opera mini for quick searching the web. hopefully these apps will be available soon.

I read that if you have a non-samsung phone, you dont have paid apps only free app available in the gear store.
I have a note 5. i cant confirm on this.
*
I like to monitor my steps count through s health and i think it's quite reliable. But if u have both phone & gear s2, are the step count or other items within the app sync? There are times where u go out or take a walk without either one and if so is there going to be different readings between d phone & d watch?

I normally only use the watch to track my steps. I just test the situation u stated above.

I just observed that you can switch the source of tracking your step between phone and watch at the shealth apps in phone.  It seem like these data is independent.  It won't added the step count of your phone to the watch or vice verse. At least, i can't find it yet in the apps. The phone and watch is keep on tracking. You can select view which data in the s health app.
According to xda, gear store paid apps  is just enable for non samsung phone:

Thanks for ur reply. That confirms d concern that i read online. It's kind of a bummer. Hopefully samsung can find a way to sync d data from few devices with d same account.

Only these two current Android Wear watches – the Huawei Watch (left) and Asus ZenWatch 2 – will support on-watch phone calls

I might be wrong but if I'm not mistaken only d bigger size zenwatch 2 will support on-watch phone calls, no?

Ya, it's the bigger one. And yes, all sizes RM 699 except the metal strap. But as I said previously, the staff were still blur blur due to the new arrival. I did ask them if there's a smaller size avaialable. They answered me there's no smaller size.  doh.gif
Anyway, I didn't plan to buy the small size, so I didn't ask further. rolleyes.gif

And no. They do not have display unit for Zenwatch 2. But they do have LG watch, Asus Vivo watch and some other to show. I think it's because the watch is still new in Malaysia. Perhaps they will have the display unit after CNY.
*
Thanks. I've been looking around a fair bit to see d display unit but still no luck. I'm interested in d bigger one but afraid it's too big for my wrist. Lol.

Wait until after CNY. I believe the display unit will be appeared at Plaza Lowyat very soon. Go to the All It Hypermarket and the Asus store there.

As for the size, I think it should be fine for men. My wrist is not large, its about 6 and 1/2 inch , and the watch is completely fit to the wrist. Not like the other round face watches. No matter how you shake your hand, the Zenwatch won't move around the wrist. The watch face cover completely the entire upper wrist. Very comfortable. thumbup.gif
Can't complain much at this price. The only thing I rant about is the limited choices and colors of bands. I don't know why they don't bring in the rubber band. It's not that I dislike the leather band. But as we knew, leather band's condition will become worse as days go by. especially when it comes to sweat, water and rain. Metal strap may be an alternative. But extra 200 bucks for only a metal band, it seems a little bit too much. tongue.gif
*
Maybe a week or 2 for them to display. Today still nothing yet in low yat.
This watch's strap is interchangeable with normal watch strap right? Maybe better to find your preferred strap & change yourself.

No problem bro. I checked my wrist. Mine is also about 6 inch (6.2-3). So ya, the bigger size will suit you. Furthermore, if you plan to play a lot on your smartwatch, bigger size is better for swiping.  Trust me. The bigger size will give you better user experience. thumbup.gif

Just want to check with u guys, after few days with the watch do u face bluetooth connection issue especially with android phone? I read some comments regarding bluetooth disconnects issues and MX510 did comment about problem pairing with zenfone 2.

On GemFive and Lazada, Zenwatch 2, only the smaller 1.45" version are sold?
But Lelong.com all displaying the spec as the bigger version 1.63".
All site priced at RM699.

Don't know which site information is correct.
*
In gemfive the product code is wi501q which should be the bigger version but the description / specs shows 1.45". Lol.

WI502Q -> Zenwatch 2 (small?)

Correct.

QUOTE(arr9ow @ Feb 15 2016, 10:51 AM)
Already ask lazada CS regarding this. They said it is indeed smaller size. Seems like seller won't sell the bigger size on this platform (lazada/gemfive).
True.

So. I might going to find ZW2 this weekend. Any place got stock other than directd/1gadget? hehe
*
Looks like Gemfive has revised their specs wi501q to 1.65" except the one with orange strap which shows wi501q but with 1.45". This is more in line with the press release in previous page on which model/colour/strap combinations being brought in officially by asus malaysia.
Do let us know if u find any place with display unit. I can't commit to buy online until after I'm sure the watch is not too big on my wrist.

They'll start selling the discounted moto 360 at noon right? Are people queuing already? Or no queue? At 50% discount it's the battle between fat bezel or flat tire.

I was finally able to have a look & try the zenwatch 2. A slightly smaller overall size & an even smaller bezel would be perfect but as a whole it is a good looking watch. Only one thing stood out and i went to see huawei watch & moto 360 just for comparison - it really was laggy when scrolling the long list of menu and it was quite noticeable too. But i might try wearable with this watch. Too bad gemfive has been sold out for few days already.

Hi.. may i know which ZW2 size you tried on? Did you meant ZW2 laggy when scrolling? I haven't  saw any demo unit for 1.63 ZW2 here in KK. Only 1.45 and need to ask shop keeper to try on.
*
Owh i tried the 1.6 inch one. The only store that has a sample unit. All other stores dont have sample unit or allow to try. Yea it was laggy when scrolling the menu. It was a fresh out of the box watch. Protective plastic all removed in front of me. Lol. Maybe can ask those that have been using it to comment more.
