i use cap ayam brand before. But since it is installed in the car that i use to go to work, it last very long like 3 years. My workplace is very far, more than 45km. So it can fully charge the battery easily everytime i go to work. Hence longer life. While other car that always short distance to go to shop, or drive nearby, one year sure kong. So i think brand is not much important.

Well, were you able to find the Panasonic batteries? Instead of calling, here's a where to buy link: http://www.mayshowa.com/?page_id=30

Hope this helps. Do write a review afterwards, okay? rclxms.gif

Is it a Maintenance-free battery? I got some local-branded (don't remember the name) maintenance-free NS60 for RM240. I think RM220 for maintenance-free is okaylah, but you should use the website and survey the shops near your area for prices.

Oh yeah. 2 months ago i saw this expensive battery in a Exora. Cost around RM1K i think. Upon researching it was for engines with start stop feature. Like hybrid engines. But i dunno why the guy bought this kind of battery for his car. Anyone using such batteries?

my experience:
Panasonic MF, (made in Japan) - 1 year only
Varta MF approximate RM450 cant remember exact $ - 1 year only
Delkor MF approximate RM350 cant remember exact $ - 1 year 1 month only....

Now I gave up on MF battery.

My other car (1500cc) using Century Ultramax MF, still working ok now already 2year 2 months. Ultramax stock quite hard to get.

almost all batteries lasted about a year only

so i invest in a battery charger and once a year do a full charge overnight , see whether it improves battery life

I'm using Century now, but not satisfied and will never buy it again. After bought a few months, I left the car for only like 2 weeks and the battery flat already. Exchanged new from warranty and again after maybe just 6 mths, it went flat again after I left it for only 3 weeks. I don't bother to ask for exchange again coz too lazy already and I know it's just bad brand. I just jump started the car and drive to charge it.

On the other hand my other car using Yokohama, still ok even after leaving the car for 1 mth twice which is what it should be.

So based on these, I'd choose Yokohama over Century anytime, both similar prices some more (Yokohama maybe even cheaper actually!).

I dont think its the battery issue, think your car is draining the battery, current leakage

How is the result? Did it improve?

It actually does , I have one car which seldom drive , once a while only start to keep battery alive but never gets long charge , whenever it can't crank I put the charger on and it goes back to normal for a few months before needing charge again

Recently my daily driver also showed weakness , put the charger on to boost , back to normal also, battery is almost 2 years, always when weak crank I would have thrown the battery out.

Another with start stop battery, usually 1 year then the car starts cocomplaining and disables start stop , flashing lights and shit. Preventively put the charger on also , I'm at 9 months still no problems

May i know why new car batteries tend to last shorter ? example 20k - 30km

Doesnt really use anything except for dashcam that shuts off itself when the battery is low and only charge phone during in the car ( less than 30mins )

Most people tend to forget that there are a lot of things that draw significant amount of power from the electrical system i.e fog lamps, aircond, satnav hu etc.

couple that to lots of idling time at whatever driving condition (traffic lights, waiting for someone, afternoon nap for e.g.), whereby alternator output is not at its optimum/max, your batt will not be charged as quick as you would expect.

Probably the alarm and immobilizer consumes a bit more power. I think the battery size also a bit too small for a d-segment car, should have been an NS70 but somehow the std terminal size only fits for NS60L. bangwall.gif If I leave the car for 4-5 days still ok though.

I'm using local brand ipoh mali punya; GMB. I bought it on Oct-2015 for RM220 (DIN55R). That time I was visiting my makcik who is ill with diabetes and kidney problem. I was really pokai then, so I had to settle for this brand since my car already showing symptoms of battery going to kaput.

Now she just recently gone, and yet the battery is still going strong in my Persona.

Guys, for new batteries sold at spare parts shop (either MF or NMF), are they ready to use just like that? I remember in the past, one has to top up the acid from the supplied container and then seal the top-up caps before it can be used.

Yes, plug and go. Due to safety reasons, never touch the acid.

Any good brands all you sifus/car enthusiast out there would recommend and mind sharing what you know on car batteries?

Provide comparisons/opinions on the different car battery brands as well please if you don't mind. thumbup.gif

Thank you!!

Brands that i know so far are :-

Century
GP
Yokohama
Visca
Bosch
Beyonix
3K
KOBA
Incoe
Yuasa

So many brands... How to choose?? What are their differences other than their CCA which doesn't really matter in our hot climate here in Malaysia?
