Plug in AC power and connected the USB cable,
Can hear and feel the disk spinning for 5 seconds, then clicking sound "click..clickk...click" and stop.
The hdd activity led didn't light up and the drive not showing at "My Computer / Disk Management", but still can be detected as 'USB Mass Storage' at "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.
Is it dead ?

Maybe its only faulty USB cable. Can borrow a cable to test?

tried with another cable and still the same case i ran WD Diagnostic, it's showing up there with correct model & sn but only 4gb capacity instead of 3TB and SMART status not available as well as unable to run any test. This post has been edited by phunkydude: Mar 1 2015, 10:35 PM

possible that only the enclosure controller is busted.
you need to try disassembling the case and connect the HDD directly to the desktop via SATA port.
