Plug in AC power and connected the USB cable,

Can hear and feel the disk spinning for 5 seconds, then clicking sound "click..clickk...click" and stop.

The hdd activity led didn't light up and the drive not showing at "My Computer / Disk Management", but still can be detected as 'USB Mass Storage' at "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.

Is it dead ?

tried with another cable and still the same case sad.gif

i ran WD Diagnostic, it's showing up there with correct model & sn but only 4gb capacity instead of 3TB and SMART status not available as well as unable to run any test.

possible that only the enclosure controller is busted.

you need to try disassembling the case and connect the HDD directly to the desktop via SATA port.
