Asb Or Gold Investment ?

Or any other investment ?

First and foremost.

I am a scholarship student and currently studying in Japan.
I'll be graduating in 2 years.
I can save about RM 10,000-RM15,000 in a year ( part time and some of my saving from scholarship )

Total after 2 years i might get RM20,000-RM30,000.

I am planning to buy a house right after i graduate and back to Malaysia.

I want to plan my future starting from now on. I need some advices from the professional here on what can i do with my saving to live a good life smile.gif

ASB for me.. as you plan to buy house with the money, so need a quite "guaranteed" investment.

Gold.. too volatile and not predictable.

1) I say no to gold investment... because it doesn't feel like an investment to me. it's like betting the price will go up. on a non-yielding asset. but that's for you to understand how it works

2) are you from klang valley? buying a house? are you serious? even down payment is not adequate in most instances... as a fresh graduate, you should learn the basics of financial planning... else you will end up with debt, no life, because every cents goes to paying house loan. study hard, get a job, understand how money works... have some savings... THEN you plan (not buy) on how to buy a house.

Amanah saham. It's a Gov body that caters investment units for Malaysians. There's a thread here labelled as amanah saham. Check it out

Go for ASB. Gold investment is more for risk hedging rather than investment. Gold prices mostly becomes relevant during financial crisis. If you can swallow the risk, go for unit trust, ETF or stocks. This can outperform ASB but mainly for the long term.
