New thread! Westports Holdings Bhd is eyeing a suitable merger and acquisition (M&A) target particularly in the Asean region that would be able to chart good growth to the benefit of terminal operators. CEO Ruben Emir Gnanalingam told that he was keen on pursuing a deal but had yet to find a terminal in the region that could join the group. Clearing the air on market rumour that the company is already in talks with external parties, Ruben said that so far nothing suitable was on the plate yet. "I can tell you that we are keen, but we want to pursue the right deal where pricing, valuation and prospects of the terminal are within our expectations. Southeast Asia is the strongest market for us, as the countries here are still bullish on the economic outlook. Asean potential is amazing in the next 20 to 30 years. This is where the growth will be," he said. (StarBiz) http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Busines...rowl/?style=bizThis post has been edited by bennike129: Feb 26 2015, 08:24 AM

Container hike delays again to Nov 1 2015, instead of Oct 1. The implementation was first scheduled for Sept 1. It was then postponed to Oct 1. I wonder why Port Klang Authority delay the hike

Westports Holdings Bhd's pre-tax profit for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015 (FY15) rose 12 per cent to RM650.14 million compared with RM578.78 million chalked up in 2014.
The company attributed the strong performance to container volume, lower cost of fuel and administrative expenses.
As for revenue, the port operator's top-line was higher at RM1.68 billion in FY15 versus RM1.56 billion registered previously, Westports said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia.
Westports' container operations handled the highest quarterly volume of 2.34 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), bringing the total container volume to 9.05 million TEUs, exceeding last years' throughput of 8.37 million TEUs.
