to all,

There are way too many ppl who have no idea what they are talking about and to avoid confusion, here's what i can share with you guys about the first official nintendo counter in Malaysia

1. It's by the same distributor in Singapore and they are the official distributor of Nintendo products in this region (SEA) fyi. They are appointed by Nintendo (Japan).

2. The prices are "expensive" because full taxes are paid for all the nintendo stuff brought into malaysia, but in return, all stuff have the official warranty by Nintendo. Like ruff bark said, all hardware offer a 1-for-1 exhange for technical defects for the first 3 months (hinge defects included). No other shop can/will offer that in Malaysia.

3. The counter will only sell official nintendo hardware and software, and official licensed nintendo accessories. no el-cheapo made in china/taiwan accessories here.

4. You can actually order older or Jap games that you're looking for from this counter. No guarantees though but they will try to accomodate your request.

5. there will be more counters like this in jaya juscos around town (and hopefully, around the nation too)

I have check with the Singapore one. They tell me Pixel no warentee...

Official, some times ah... haha... It is good to look for rare things. But the price too much la. And still puching Phat... I am not against official, it is always Great to have them around. I will wait and see if they are ready to support the local gaming community.

*hint* can start by having download stations in their counter. And offer similar preorder packages. Like DQ rocket slime got give key chain.

Hard thing is they need to be flexible to service us, but being in Jusco how can they be flexible? Special orders, limited editions....

Pray they know what they are doing la. And bring down price. hee hee..
cheers!

good point on the dead pixel question. I'll try to find out if what's the deal for ds lite/ds fat with dead pixel for you guys.

like i said, the price is really beyond their control because its brought in thru proper channels with taxes being paid and all. But have heart because they ARE working something out right now to possibly lower the prices, but dont quote me on that.

Believe me, by being here in the first place is good support for our local community.

Don't expect to see the DS dowlonad stations any time soon. All i can say that there are a lot of issues involved and it will take a vey LONG time for anyone to see one locally.

you can order stuff you can't find from the counter. I don't know what exactly is up for order, but the best if you just go there and ask.

they know what they're doing. give them time and you'll see more of the good things they are doing.

Can someone please provide the contact number for the Nintendo booth, if any? Thanks.
*
They havent got a contact number for the counter yet but they'll have one for the office. Unfortunately, that number is not ready yet. when they do, I'll put it up here.

Got it. Mr. Blake tongue.gif

Maybe I'll buy some games from there just to keep them afloat. But the additional price are a bit hard to swallow. cry.gif

Djinn or Official Ninty shop...hard to decide... rclxub.gif

You'll know what I'm going to say. tongue.gif

I can't force you to buy the "official" games from this nintendo counter when there are cheaper options out there, but I can tell you that if you want to see more things happening with Nintendo in Malaysia, then support them. The extra RM20 to RM30 for each game will go a very long way.

I used to buy my games from Imbi Mario, but now, I'll be buying from the nintendo counter instead.

My opinions:

Its a good thing a distributor sees some form of market here in KL to bring "original" goodies here, especially Jaya Jusco, but at once, I'm torn between these options:

1. support my local fella (Djinn, and plenty of unknowns that have always give good service and support for their products they sell)

2. support the giant N itself, and pay the govt. the extra 5 ~ 6% (ballpark figures) on entertainment taxes to bring the original games in.

Well, since I have been paying taxes for some time now, I've reackon my fellow M'sian need my support more than the govt. needs it. Not turning my back all the way, I won't might purchasing an original GBA cart though (Advance Wars 2? hmmm...). Oh, and I hate going to MidValley -- the traffic, the people...
*
eh, jaya jusco is not the distributor. don't get it mixed up. The distributor is only displaying its wares in jaya jusco.

I understand your concerns about supporting the local boys or the distributor and thus i won't comment on your stand.

I agree that the taxes are stupid but bear in mind that the distributor is doing the business the "right" way by paying the full amount, with no hanky panky stuff going on underneath. you gotta to respect the distributor for this.

btw, the taxes are not just 5% to 6%. Its more than triple the amount.

The nintendo counters in Jusco Midvalley and One Utama are official and legit, and they are not set up by Jusco!

How Nintendo do its business in this region is the company appoint distributors/dealers to sell their wares (console and games). In the SEA region, the sole distributor is this company called Maxsoft and it is based in Singapore.

Maxsoft has set up an office in Malaysia but its not registered under the same name. It doesnt have a retail shop at this point in time, and Juscos around Malaysia will be used as a store front for now.

As for the warranty, the owner of Maxsoft personally told me that its "3 months 1-for-1 exhange". I did not clarify whether its just 3 months or otherwise, and I will though. Once I get the chance, I will definitely let u guys know.

But make no mistake, warranty is definitely provided and any hardware with technical/factory defects is eligible for a 1-for-1 exhange. I suspect some gamers got different answers because the sales staff that man the counters have not been briefed or trained properly yet.

As for yr feedbacks, I will pass them on the Maxsoft guy when I see him the next time.

Ok guys, here's the latest information i obtained from the horse's mouth.

1. Warranty is ONLY 3 months (I believe this is the same terms offered in Singapore). Any technical defects (hinge crack included) during this period will be eligible for a 1-to-1 exchange. Note that the warranty does NOT cover dead pixels. So, check before you buy.

2. Pre-orders are possible at the counters. Let the promoters know what you want and they will try their best to fulfill your request.

Yup! They say they usually get shipments of new games 1 or 2 days after US launch.

They're planning an event to promote Ninty products and they wish to know what's your suggestions. An big screen TV will be added in the counter.

Please help them to flourish. smile.gif

are you working there now?

this official outlet will be closed down by the end of next year due to lack of interest. the percentage of people buying original software and unhacked hardware in Malaysia is so low, no such outlet could ever survive long. I wonder what Nintendo people is thinking.

See it, Feel it, Touch it? I wonder if they have any lenglui staff there...  tongue.gif

and I was just about to wonder when someone like you would come in... tongue.gif

welcome

thurtin, since you know the distro, why not show him this thread? or maybe they can post what games are coming here.

Surely it will create more interest.
*
he knows about this thread since day one.

as for the list of upcoming games, I'll see what i can do about it.

perhaps PM is the better person to do it since he's working there now you know...
