Hello all sifu2, any review on this tyres?

Size required are 205/55/16 and may i know any recommended dealer to bring in this brand around klang valley? Prefer subang, damansara or cheras area.

Thanks for the input all sifu2.

This UHP tyre and traction rate as AA, but hell is worse UHP tyre i use so far!
Poor braking traction on wet and dry road!
And will skid easyly when cornering.

But if u not intend to touge with this tyre and drive like uncle maybe this tyre will last, since the threadwear is 500, and also noisy thre compare my last UHP tyre

Yes since my drive patern also agresive, like to tackle corner and sudden braking.

Before i use Maxxis i-pro victra and Then PS3, due to budget tigh, i try ventus v2, but this would be last time and waiting tyre to botak terus change.

Ventus v2 are made in indonesia,

Suggest u if u want UHP tyre in this price bracket, get maxxis i-pro victra, traction are great even sudah botak, and noise are acceptable

Hmmm....thanks for the review bro. I am trying to stretch my budget to PS3. If the price is at 400 or below, i think i still can afford. Play safe better i think.

Ventus V2 Concept2 is an entry level directional tyre, similar to Bridgestone MY-02, Toyo DRB etc. For Hankook tyres your size, you can try the Ventus Prime2 which is UHP and comes OE on a lot of foreign makes (very common on CBU Volkswagen Jetta/Golf/Beetle and Kia/Hyundai SUVs). Noble2 prioritizes comfort (lower noise levels and softer sidewall) and may not be so suitable for performance needs.

Personally my car (same 205/55 R16 size) came with Prime2 (Made in Korea) and now I'm on Noble2 (Made in Indonesia) and no, I'm not a Hankook fanboy/paid poster...

Price varies from what I know. I got my Noble2 from a Hankook Masters store in PJS area along NPE for RM315 per tyre, not including valve or alignment. Balancing and installation is included. I'm not sure if you can still get at this price because they were clearing stocks.
The store is only 5 minutes away from my house, as I didn't wanna travel too far to other stores just to get at slightly cheaper prices even for other similar category tyres (Turanza GR100, Primacy 3ST, Proxes C1S, EfficientGrip, Advan DB).
I didn't ask for Prime2 pricing as I wasn't keen on getting back the same OE model but I understand it should be higher. Prime2's performance is good to me, but I wanted something more comfort-biased.

as mentioned, Prime2 was my previous tyre and I changed to Noble2. Never tried 3ST as it was about RM50 more expensive per tyre.

I've done 8500km since installing it in Dec 2014. So far so good in terms of threadwear. It's rated 500 just like the V2 Concept2, but will see how it goes...

Rm315 per tyres is not a budget tyres from my own opinion. But with theadwear of 500, quite worth if it is true? Hmm...thanks for review

For 205/55 R16, definitely not "budget tyres" per se, as you can get cheaper tyres which are of lower category (eco tyres, entry-level), or from other cheaper brands (Achilles, Rovelo, Neuton, Silverstone etc).
For this category, the cheapest I am aware of is the GR100 which can go about RM280-290 per tyre.
Definitely is much cheaper than Advan DB which I was quoted RM440 per tyre.
End of the day, it all depends on your budget, your usage, driving habits etc, no one else can make the decision for you.

I used to use Hankook S1 Evo and Hankook V12 Evo.. Both r very good budget performance tyres..

My regular tyre shop in Klang said now both these tyres no more in production..

Are there any replacement for these 2 UHP tyres?

S2 Evo or V12 Evo 2?

I remember seeing S1 Evo2 featured in the latest Hankook Malaysia catalogue when I got my tyres, but not sure about V12 Evo2. Availability depending on your size though:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2...87224327&type=3

Nowadays, marketing is taken over by principal company instead of distributor, but still their marketing not aggressive enough, just some billboard and print ads here and there. Most Hankook stores now rebranded as Hankook Masters stores. Maybe they busy supplying their Kinergy EX to Perodua haha...

Most stores if don't carry stock can get directly from Hankook warehouse, that's how my tyres came too, just wait a couple of hours for delivery. Here's a list of stores, maybe this can help:

i currently running on ventus v2 195/50/15 and i could say this is not UHP for me.. just a slight budget performance tyre.
tackle corner and hard braking it will skid and slide all the way to other lane (when do really hard corner with real high speed)
i just changed it on november 2014 and used until now. touge-ing quite frequently and wanted to change to other UHP tyres when this is left around 30~40% tread.
hope this will help you smile.gif

for me, i put slightly low air pressure which is 205kpa front 200kpa rear.
noise for sure is slightly noisier than conti cc5 which i using on the other car, while bumpiness i managed to reduced it by lowering air pressure.
i dont know others but i would not take this again since its unable to satisfy me on skids and slides in touge sessions.

i think this tyres received 70% of the unsatisfied review from the owner in Malaysia.

How about neuton nt5000 and nt8000? Seem like quite attracting with the spec and price.

If u ask me, ofcoz ps3, u get what u paid, since the price also double than i-pro, but no doubt u hardly feel any big different with ps3 in term of grip, but for me ps3 still best if u want grip, comfort, wet grip. But the price is not wallet friendly

Anyway ventus 2 v2 for me just a entry level performance tire and more on comfort side.

In dry road still can perform accordingly but not in wet, still feel the tire not stick good enough...Drive upon more than 80km/h u will laying ur life 50/50 with it but only with heavy downpour and water pool around....

Noise level...still acceptable to me...I'm driving lau beh FLX, whatever good tires too will heard the hardness sound...

ANyway overall for the price u pay u get what u get.

Thanks. But it's occasional like big pothole no knocking sound, only the small pothole. That's really weird. When it's loud, it's really loud. I'm not sure what's the problem. Might need to go back to where I bought the tyres. Just used for 6months only.

Used to have Hankook v2 concept that's made in Korea.. That's really a good tyre..both in dry and wet... I can have confident driving 100-120 during heavy raining at highway

However, Hankook v2 concept2 that's made in Indonesia is really disappointing.. It's far too bad to compare.. Weak grip in both dry and wet... Can feel the car is floating during the same situation.

Just changed my rear to Hankook V2 concept 205/55/R16... to replace my very worn out Yoko C-Drive 2.

Hope it's not too bad.

Can feel the car is floating during the same situation.

how about V2 Concept 2 made in Thai? at least that's what stated on the tires i bought for my mom's Swift

is Thai made better? unsure.gif

I'm done with Hankook, two bad cases and I will not wait for the third.

For Korean tyres I would only consider Nexen and Kumho (in fact, I'm test driving Ecsta PS31 now and am really satisfied with it).

Depends on model, but not too different, although I feel it is quieter than Ventus.

I like the PS31, performance is surprisingly good for that kind of price (mind you, it's almost half of PS3 or RE003 price) and it is shy away from the two's performances. Just my opinion after almost two months testing it smile.gif

the older v2 concept (made in Korea) is better than v2 concept 2.
My current tire is Toyo nanoenergy3 which has better traction compared to v2 concept 2 -weird since my Toyo is an 'Eco' tire. The older V2 concept has very good mileage, last very long time as advertise (threadwear 500).

I am going to change the stock tyres of my Proton Preve Turbo to the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 due to its low price. It is a budget tyre anyway at RM200 to 230 per piece for 205/55 R16 so the performance is expected when compared to costlier tyres RM300 and above.

Too bad most tyre shops do not have the Champiro Bax 2 tyres, the stock tyres of the Proton Preve Turbo. I would certainly go for these tyres again if given the choice as the performance is stellar. Not sure about the price of these stock Champiro Bax 2 tyres though.

An update on the HanKook Ventus V2 Concept 2 Made in Indonesia tyres. Previously on GT Radial Champiro Bax 2 on Proton Preve Turbo 205/55 R16.

In comparison with Champiro Bax 2, the Hankook V2 Concept 2 is a softer and quieter tyre. Grip, cornering at moderate to higher speed and braking distance are not as good as the Champiro Bax 2 as you can feel the car wobbling and losing the line when doing a cornering at relatively higher speeds. The steering also felt looser and not as precise with the Hankook V2 Concept 2 at higher speeds. At moderate speeds, little to no difference in handling and grip between the Hankook V2 Concept 2 and Champiro Bax 2.

On comfort and quietness, the Hankook is better than the Champiro Bax 2 as the rubber is not only softer (you can feel the tyres acting like a cushion when going over bumps and unevenness) but tyre noise is lower too. However, due to the quieter sound from the tyres, the engine sound is now louder. As some might have known, the Proton Preve Turbo's engine sound is quite loud and unrefined. With the lower tyre noise, the low rumbling or "wooo"" sound from the engine is more prominent. I am not sure if I prefer to hear the louder tyre noise more or the unrefined engine sound more. Both engine sound and tyre sound are different in the tonal quality.

All all, the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 are good tyres for moderate speed levels of use mainly for comfort and quietness. It may not be as quiet as the quiet-type tyres around, but nevertheless it is still decently quiet with average comfort levels. The price is the selling factor at RM200 bucks each plus free balancing. Perhaps they can be had cheaper elsewhere in some Klang areas such as Kapar.

A note is the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 and Yokohama Bluearth AE50 are on different cars.

It is subjective and may not be all that accurate but this is what I feel. For dry handling, the AE50 is slightly better. With Hankook, the steering is slightly looser. Cornering at high speed, I am not too sure as I rarely do spirited drives with these "comfort" tyres. During the one or two occasions of high speed cornering with the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2, I am actually quite surprised. Although the tyres are soft and you feel the softness of the tyres during high speed cornering, the tyres still stay on the curve line and the car does not slide or wobble. But the softness of the tyres can be felt as you feel the car leaning lower to one side when doing hard cornering. With the AE50, I rarely take corners at high speeds.

With cornering at moderate high speed with the Hankook, there is a slight instability with the car as I can feel the car sliding a bit, just a bit. Perhaps the loose steering also plays a part. No such feeling with the AE50. It is funny that with moderately high speed cornering, the Hankook shows a bit of sliding and instability but at high speed cornering there is no sliding but you will feel the softness of the tyres.

In summary, I would say on dry handling, the Yokohama AE50 is slightly better than the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 as the tyres do not slide or lose the line as the Hankook during moderately high speed cornering. Stability with straight line performance with the AE50 is also better as the steering does not feel loose as the Hankook. More precise and sharper steering with the AE50.

For wet performance, I have not driven the Hankook in heavy rain yet (dry season these days). But I am quite certain the Yokohama AE50 will have better wet performance than the Hankook in the wet due to the larger groove lines and pattern. Going through puddles of water and braking on wet roads, I believe the Yokohama will be superior than the Hankook. I have purposely tried driving the car over (quite deep) puddles of water collected at the side of the road after a heavy downpour with the AE50. When the tyres hit the puddle of water, the car was still moving straight without losing control or the line. And the car was still moving forward and maintaining the speed (if other cars the speed might have reduced considerably when the tyres hit the water, or the car may swerve and lose control).

Final summary, for all round quality and performance I recommend the Yokohama Bluearth AE50 tyres over the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 as the better tyres. As expected, the price is also much higher. The Yokohama Bluearth AE50 tyres (205/60 R16) cost RM297 while the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 (205/55 R16) costs RM200.

An additional information on the straight line performance of the Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 I forgot to mention is the slightly loose steering when driving at higher speed. The steering wheel will feel a bit loose when the speed of the vehicle is at about 120 km/h on the straights. It's not that you cannot drive the car up to 150 km/h or higher with the Hankook but once the speed gets to about 120 km/h you will feel that the steering doesn't feel as sharp or precise. But it is still manageable.

With the Yokohama Bluearth AE50, straight line performance is not compromised at high speed cruising up to 200 km/h as the steering still feels sharp without showing any "looseness".

i was using ventus v2 concept2 old version which made in Korea, actually a good tyre compared to its price, but seemed like the new batch, made in Indo has bad feedback, hmmm

my tyre tread almost gone liao, its time to change a new one, wanted to change v2 evo 2, which received quite good feedback from foreign country even some in Malaysia, but very hard to get one.

Btw, v2 evo2 categorized under same grp with Michelin PSS(Pilot super sport).

Yup. After i did some research, i found out a lot negative comment on v2c2 which make in indonesia.
My friend was using V12 EVO2 (should be v12 instead of v2 right?)
He said is BETTER than PS3.
I found out RM183 for 195/50R15. smile.gif

How is the ps31 noise compared to the hankooks?

PS31 surprisingly is very quiet as a UHP tyres. After installed straight you can feel the noise reduced. Not too stiff or soft. Good handling stability on dry and wet. Overall satisfied. Value for money. Installed on H.city few months ago. now on my CR-Z. Still happily attacking corners like the Ori Bridgestone Potenza RE050A UHP tyre which is a lot stiffer and noisier.
