depends on what fully overhaul means to u. the picture i posted on previous post (the red one) costs around RM30k, everything new and fully import from Germany. Total cost of rebuild the entire car around RM50k

i top overhaul my engine about RM3k.

Fully overhaul, it needs to see if you would need to replace your crank etc parts or not, but RM30k is too much. It depends to who u go to and what kinda parts you buy. Since @stormlcc purchase parts from oversea, i have no comments. But if you purchase parts locally, and if you personally go and buy them (and bargain ofcourse), you'll save alot.

If you needs to know where to purchase parts, i can bring you.

as mentioned before, i can't see your picture, so i might be wrong.
but based on your reply, i was guessing RM30k u used to OVERHAUL your whole CAR, incase of misleading info, i think AlexLee777 is asking about overhauling just an engine.
not even including gearbox. Hence i dun think it will be such expensive.

just to be clear, that's NOT my car....haha sweat.gif and i don't have THAT kind of cash to spend on a car. FYI, ALL the parts, ALL of them including the engine, gearbox, shafts, suspension parts (the ENTIRE suspension), bush, rubbers, interior parts, carpets, seats, doors, hood, even the glove box was IMPORTED DIRECTLY FROM GERMANY by container. basically the whole car is NEW made in Malaysia by parts from Germany. It took years of planning and months of preparation to rebuild. The entire process of rebuilding took almost half a year.

And I don't mean to be misleading (sorry), i'm just answering the question of how much that car cost for rebuilding.

well, it's great to know that there're such enthusiast in m'sia still. icon_rolleyes.gif
and definitely good to know the price to do such crazy things, obviously i would want to do the same thing too if i have the cash, it's crazy, but it's not stupid, as what it pays lasts for a life time. i salute the owner for doing it. Hope that the local mechanic did also a superb job to par the parts imported. i often heard that m'sian mech are too ego with their limited knowledge, as u know, as we are able to gather all information from internet nowadays, most of the time the hobbyist is much more knowledgeable than the mech in the sense of knowing what can pair with what and how it can perform, ofcourse it still need the mechanic knowledge to do the physical tuning, so when the particular hobbyist inquire some mechanic, the mechanic who don't know, simply don't want to know more and say that can't be done and say whatever on the net is bull shit. that's so saddening for our country, as well as for the VW scene.
so if an owner is rich and he found a mechanic who're keen enough to dig the net together with the owner to upgrade the car, by all means, i feel the cash to pay for that is worth it.

There's a warehouse in jonker(closed at evening and on sunday) which distribute some parts all over Malaysia.
It's solely selling VW stuff. the shop is Lai Kam Wah but it's not easy to see if you did not put much attention.
the only thing that i can tell is that this shop is located in between two indian antique shops.

ur exhaust totally can't use already?
exhaust buy 2nd hand one is useless, especially when u're looking at the stock exhaust. i did that just like u too. bought from a seller that the exhaust seem very nice, but after 4months using it, the exhaust started to spit metal...the silencer in the exhaust tip started to drop due to rust. and then the sound is like machine gun.

anyway i tend to speed everyday so that might be the reason the rust silencer broken in short period.
