You have a base Level which is defined from Level 1 to Level 40 and there is another called Light Level. Light Levels takes into consideration the average Attack+Defense of your Gears + Weapons + Artifact + Class Item + Ghost Shell. Basically, the higher your Light Level is the more defense and attack power you have. Some activities require a certain Light Levels to unlock. Everyone can be a Level 40, but its your light level that counts.

Couldn't agree more with that. Journey in Destiny can be quite frustrating, older players will understand this especially. Making more friends while adventuring can indeed make things much more enjoyable.
