5) Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
Move aside Fred Durst, you totally got owned by the dual vocal combo of the powerful Chester B. and hard rapping M. Shinoda. They took the whole rap metal scene into whole new level, even bursting into audience who doesn't listen to rap and metal in the first place. Nevermind the commercial success, you got to admit, the dual vocals was something refreshing in the scene at that time, the two of them blended together excellently.
Don't know if Linkin Park was ever metal enough to be considered metal. I mean, Look at Zach de la Roche and Rage Against the Machine. THAT is rap metal.
LP was too poppy back then, and nowadays they are a lot more poppy.
That being said, my current top 5 are

Death Grips - Exmilitary.
The rapper does not rap. He yells almost all the time, and it just hits me on some sort of visceral primal level. Always admired rappers, but never got into hip hop before listening to this. The energy level is at 11.

Your Old Droog - Kinison
Its a rock themed rap album thats exceccuted very well.

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
Seems every band's second or third album is a darker version of their previous work, but anyways, the Monkeys here give off a very whimsical yet simultaneously dark atmosphere with the instrumentation that suits the songwriting perfectly. In my opinion Crying Lightning is one of the best told made up break up songs, with its metaphors and beating around the bushes.

When you just want to chill, and float on.....

Lyrics are decent on most tracks, but by GOD their guitar work is catchy. Its modern pop rock at its finest.
