QUOTE(razo2 @ Apr 14 2015, 11:31 PM) Gas metering will most probably go into instrumentation, you will transit into DCS later. APC + MES for more hardcore controls. Gas metering is pretty good when OnG company need to audit the total flow of gas coming from the field/rig from all directions (No meter mean no monies baby!). The rest of your measurement could be used for other applications. Usually they also have gas chromatography as an extra details about the gas flowing through that pipe. If you are keen, you will have to learn alot about control valve (the eye, mouth and hands of the pipeline), PID software (the brains), DCS (the heart and veins),instrumentation, process simulation software (dynamic and linear) all about control of flow, pressure and temperature. You cannot believe how much people will cry when things are not flowing! thats mean you think choosing gas metering is better? I am from mechanical background. ya. i believe Gas metering can learn more variety, but currently the filtration company offers better package than gas metering company. about 14% higher basic salary. thats the dilemma im encountering... QUOTE(razo2 @ Apr 14 2015, 11:59 PM) I am just letting you know things that are related to my job. One crucial thing I learned in the OnG industry is never be a lalang being blown by the wind. I make up my mind and heart and pursue what I truely love to do. Take a bit of time. Read and see what you really desire. You dont want to be stuck crawling in a shit hole for 10 years to find out you made a mistake. Are u working in gas metering industry? I cant predict how my future and how the future trend will be. I do not have specific interest that tells what I can truely love to work on. I think I will choose the filtration and pressure vessel co. Thanks, mr razo2.

QUOTE(razo2 @ Apr 15 2015, 12:47 PM) I am in a company that does the instrumentation, DCS and APC. Just to share my background, I love controls, programming and instrumentation because it is something really challenging in every way you view it. But what really drives me is the love for solving logical problems. I cannot tahan a job that only sit down there and rot without thinking hard, I will die on the spot. It is a love since young as 12 years old when I first do C programming. So i ask my dad (an Exxon offshore man, geology to be exact) the field and things how the business is done. Unfortunately I didnt enroll into geology, but i know some stuff about it. Mechanical is interesting as well. Last time i used to think is easy stuff, but fuck me dead i was dead wrong about that. I learned about how hydraulic stuff works, mechanical pumps, compressors, davits, electrical motors is good experience but i prefer something with more controls. Get very interesting when you have to deal with a freaking old equipment and how you need to take them apart without messing up. from your words i believe ur are no challenge no life kinda ppl. I am not that ambitious, certain stress is ok but not too much. keep it up bro, u shall be the future leader.
