QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Mar 12 2015, 06:18 PM) Kau boleh jugak join any subcon yang related to servicing steam turbine for IPP's power energy plant - aku tak berapa pasti who are the player for these market. If I could recall correctly, Alstom Asia Pacific mainly involve in servicing turbines for power plants. Went for interview session with them once two years ago. Pretty good company as they are covering the whole Asia Pacific region. This post has been edited by HeReLiSm: Mar 13 2015, 09:12 AM |

QUOTE(HappyHampers @ Mar 13 2015, 11:06 PM) Hi, anyone has heard of Exact Automation Sdn Bhd ? Know of their work environment, culture, benefits and salary ? Is a stable company ? One of my close friend is working at the company. Mainly involve in control system field such as programming and etc. Carry Allen Bradley brand of PLC. Sub vendor to Sedia Teguh. Most of their applications related to FGS and ESD, downstream and upstream.Benefits and salary not really sure, but I can say most likely comparable to most similar competitor companies. If project engineer as my friend, travels a lot to do site visits, tnc and etc. stable? even bigger company also cannot really say they are stable at this kinda market atm. QUOTE(BillySteel @ Mar 20 2015, 11:38 PM) I think many people here misunderstand why companies hire intern. +1dont know, dont want to know or dont care? Since I believe this reply is quite harsh in nature so I will reply to you in the same manner just so you know where you stand. People are not slaves unless you want to be one. Everyone is hired in a company (i mean proper for profit company-yes I am a capitalist) to serve a purpose often directly beneficial to the company either through financial or resource gain. NO company hires intern just to teach them.......name me one if I am mistaken I can easily disapprove by asking you to review their tax filing. 1. Malaysia gives companies tax exemptions for structured internship programs (main reason why most companies start internship programs) 2. Companies need people to do the menial job(eg: data entry) which mat-senior yang ego sangat biasa tak nak buat.......very common, I think this is no.1 reason in Malaysia 3. Reduce risk of hiring a wrong person (interns who will go on to become employees) or actually to review talented potentials. 4. Strained department budget or poor profit margins hence unable to hire on a fulltime basis. and others. So my advice is don't devalue yourself too much because it will show the lack of confidence. Nanti industry complain pulak fresh grad semua takde confidence. |

QUOTE(horumo @ Apr 9 2015, 09:18 AM) I am fresh grad in Mechanical Engineering from local private university with first class honours (CGPA 3.51) in October 2014. I still cannot register with BEM yet since my degree certificate only can be obtain during or after convocation around august 2015. Besides having a good result, I also active in sport but it is outside of university (running and etc). I also decorate my CV attractively. My interest of course to gain technical knowledge in o&g sector but due to recent circumstances, I also apply to another sectors instead. Whenever I see job vacancy posted, I try to reach the respective HR. I went to career fair, forward my CV to friends. But then, it is quite difficult even to secure an interview. Maybe I don’t have any internal connection. Even I manage, there will be 3 or 4 stages of interview. Recently I grab an offer to be project engineer from a vendor in o&g sector. There is only slightly involvement on technical aspect and I know you must be discipline engineer first from what I read through in this forum. Any ideas on how I can survive or to gain more technical knowledge? I am currently working as Project Engineer in O&G vendor as well. Part of the job scope is to manage and execute the project well in term of time and cost, control the project costing, looking for the best deal with sub-contractors, gain as much profit as possible, deliver the project within schedule, meetings with clients and such. But I rarely involves in installation & commissioning, as this parts normally conducted by sub-con and our service engineers respectively. sorry for the long confession On one side, I believe I gain experience to improve my soft skills, ie time management, interpersonal, negotiations, how to deal with different types of person (client, sub-con, colleagues) and such. On the other hand, I have little to none technical skills, know how to troubleshoot instruments, installation practices etc. But I try the best that I could to get involve in such activities to gain experience in technical side of projects. So I think it's a good start for fresh graduates to handle projects technically and commercially. But along the way, you could also gain technical knowledge because as vendor, you need to know more than your client on the things you're handling, or else you'll be in deep trouble. My one cent |
